FourFourTwo predicts the 2023/24 League One table

Check out more of FourFourTwo’s predicted League One table for 2023/24 below…

8) CHARLTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 8th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Charlton’s steady haul of 38 points from 25 games under Holden have boosted playoff hopes this term, but replacing departed Crystal Palace loanee Rak-Sakyi is essential. So is keeping Leaburn fit (and out of the clutches of others) as the Addicks seek some stability.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 11th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 10th.

7) OXFORD

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 7th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Recruitment looks collaborative this summer, and it’s borne fruit with Ruben Rodrigues joining from Notts County and local lad Josh McEachran from MK Dons. The attacking midfielder could help the Yellows return to playoffs contention after last year’s slump.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 8th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 19th.

6) PETERBOROUGH

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 6th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Ferguson’s impact after rejoining couldn’t quite earn him a fifth promotion with the Posh, due to that playoff collapse. The club are now opting for a younger squad – Archie Collins’ arrival from Exeter stands out – but their experienced gaffer will keep them competitive.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 5th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 6th.

5) BLACKPOOL

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 5th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: “I tried as hard as possible to find someone other than Neil.” quipped Blackpool chief Sadler of Critchley’s reappointment, following his acrimonious exit. The 44 year old led the Tangerines up in 2021 and could do so again, earning himself a simpler compliment next year.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 21st place for the 2022/23 Championship campaign – instead they finished 23rd.

4) PORTSMOUTH

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 4th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Business has been left field, but highly regarded sporting director Richard Hughes values thinking outside the box. He did that to poach Mousinho from Oxford, who managed 39 points from 23 games – form that gets you in the mix, especially if they keep Colby Bishop.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 7th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 8th.

3) BARNSLEY

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 3rd place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Losing Duff and captain Andersen means it’s a question of minimising further disruption, because the Tykes’ strength last season was understanding between units right through the team. If they can maintain that synergy, another promotion push should be in store.

2) DERBY

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 2nd place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Last summer’s takeover happened the same month as opening day, so preparation was rushed, but this year the Rams had a running jump into recruitment with Joe Ward, Callum Elder and Curtis Nelson all decent early defensive recruits. Strong improvement looks likely.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 12th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 7th.

1) BOLTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 1st place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: In what looks a weaker league than last term, the Trotters will hope Nathan Baxter can replace Trafford in goal, with other new faces to come. Boss Ian Evatt has always delivered progress year on year, so a continuation of that trend should mean only thing – promotion.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 4th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 5th.
