FourFourTwo predicts the 2023/24 League One table

The 2023/24 season is just around the corner, and with that in mind, we look to FourFourTwo who predicts the League One table.

We turn our attention to the third tier division, and as always, it causes plenty of reaction and debates on social media.

You can order your copy of the FourFourTwo magazine, including the much loved season preview magazine by clicking HERE.

Have a look at who they thought would finish from 24th to 1st below, some will surprise, others not so…

24) CARLISLE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 24th place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Simpson worked miracles to inspire Carlisle to promotion: he’s ready for League One, but it’s less clear the club is, structurally. If Moxon stays, United need their star midfielder at his best every week to have a chance. Losing top scorer Kristian Dennis didn’t help.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 16th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 5th.

23) CAMBRIDGE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 23rd place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Bonner has achieved great things at Cambridge, but after last term’s dice with the drop, it’s a big rebuild at the Abbey. Early business hasn’t been hugely impressive on paper, so another dogfight could be in store. Finding a replacement departing top scorer Smith is vital.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 15th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 20th.

22) CHELTENHAM

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 22nd place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: The Robins chucked in a fair few no shows last season, but Alfie May’s quality converted the better performances into results. With the forward almost certain to go, they might play well without reward more often, meaning less leeway. This could be a struggle…

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 24th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 16th.

21) PORT VALE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 21st place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Vale’s decision to sack Clarke was unpopular, so internal replacement Crosby is already on the back foot. With funds limited and key men Worrall and Pett gone, a tough year awaits – though Conor Grant and Connor Ripley are good signings on paper.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 23rd place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 18th.

20) NORTHAMPTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 20th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: A crowded treatment room truly stretched Brady’s adaptability last season, but still the Cobblers found a way to automatic promotion. Northampton will need greater squad availability to stay up so signing the reliable Patrick Brough from Barrow was a promising start.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 3rd place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – and that they got correct.

19) STEVENAGE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 19th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Skipper Carl Piergianni produced one of the greatest seasons ever seen by a League Two centre-back as a solid team effort took Boro up. A productive window – hometown midfielder Nick Freeman joins from Wycombe – should give Evans’ troops enough to amass 50 points

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 20th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 2nd.

18) SHREWSBURY

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 18th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: The Shrews’ restructuring with Micky Moore coming in as director of football even after a fine top half finish, means the club will adopt a more developmental model. Carl Winchester has made his loan from Sunderland permanent, but it may not all deliver instant results.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 18th place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 12th.

17) FLEETWOOD

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 17th place for the 2023/24 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Owner Pilley’s legal battles have hindered preparations, but Danny Mayor and Ryan Broom are both eye-catching signings to go with proven performers in Marriott, Josh Earl, and Shaun Rooney. Brendan Wiredu and Cian Hayes should minimalise any potential drop-off.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 22nd place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 13th.
