FC Halifax Town make decision on Jamie Allen’s future at club amid Love Island appearance

FC Halifax Town make a decision on Jamie Allen’s future at club amid his much talked about Love Island appearance earlier this summer.

The forward, who can play up front or on the wing ditched pre-season preparations in order to go on the ITV2 show.

His club said at the time: “Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of ❤️ Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him. The matter will be reviewed on his return.”

The 27 year old was one of four new ‘bombshells’ who entered the reality TV show, but ended up being dumped after a brief time.

The Montserrat international, who played for Halifax for three seasons and in June had ‘committed his future’ to the team saw him leave with 21-year-old dancer Danica Taylor after a public vote.

The public had been voting for their favourite couple, and on Tuesday night viewers learned that Jamie and Danica, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack, and Adam Collard and Paige Thorne, were at risk.

Speaking after his exit, Jamie said: “My journey was a lot shorter than Danica’s obviously but I went in there trying to find a genuine connection and I feel like I have done that.”

Speaking about her romance with Jamie, Danica said: “I’m walking out of here with somebody who I genuinely think I’ve got quite a good connection with.

“I’m so proud of myself.

“I remember the first night he came in and we were just talking. I didn’t know anything about him, I didn’t know where he lived, his family, or his career but we’d spoken all night.

“I felt his energy and that he really liked me and wanted to get to know me for me – that is a feeling that I hadn’t felt with any of the other guys.”

Ever since leaving, there are rumours the two have split up.

And now FC Halifax Town have dropped a bombshell, saying on Wednesday the 24th of August that he was being let go.

The statement read: “FC Halifax Town and Jamie Allen have mutually agreed to release Jamie from his contract and he has left the Club. FC Halifax Town would like to thank Jamie for his contribution to the Football Club and wish him all the best in the future”

Allen, 27, began his footballing career at Fleetwood Town and has also played for clubs such as Barrow, Southport and Dover Athletic and also played international football for Montserrat.

He joined the Shaymen for the 2019 season and featured 20 times last season, scoring three goals, as they finished in the playoffs.

Fans have reacted as FC Halifax Town make a decision on Jamie Allen’s future at the club amid his Love Island appearance…

@_jamesamitch: good riddance let’s announce this mystery player now town ⚽️💙

@Ronan_Brown27: Best news all day

@WeAreTheShaymen: Had to be done. It’s a short career so any player is entitled to their decision but after Town supported Jamie throughout his severely injury hit time at the club with very little return, it’s hard to wish the best for someone who quit preseason for reality TV. #FCHT #WATS

@walshybhoy: This is what happens when you decide to skip pre-season to do Love Island without telling the club…

@tomhwilliams23: Wow. What a bizarre situation. Wonder if he will stick with football or focus on influencer type opportunities? #Shaymen #NationalLeague

@cwb1862: Right decision but what an absolute tosser ruining his career for a week on tv and a few dates with a girl that about nine other blokes rejected

@racecourserambl: Wowser

@JakeCrilley: Love island reject 😂

@SamualMykola: Wouldn’t have minded having him back tbf. All the best Jamie

@BigAl_2: Guy is quitting his football career to make guest appearances at student nights for 3 months and then spend the next year or two promoting teeth whitening strips and George at Asda men’s range.

@mthomps_: Good riddance

@Nwrighty18: Hope it was worth it Jamie lad, a weeks worth on TV and another week of Interviews from Magazines and that will be your lot. Wonder if Guiseley need a player?

@fchtrichard: Gets 140 quid for every Instagram post he’s doing 5 a day or was doing 5 a day and he’s on worst out of everyone so won’t take long to get his 35k back

@Nwrighty18: He would have to find 5 sponsors a day to even try get that sort of income, not going to happen a month down the line, I don’t even think he will be getting that now.

@StephenRushton2: The correct decision all round. His interests are obviously elsewhere, let him pursue them

@_joeburke3: Career ruined just to get with the biggest reject in the villa

@Jack_Nufcc: Hope it was worth it Jamie lad. A week on love island just to have your career ruined.
