We look at the favourites to become new Leicester manager after sacking Marti Cifuentes; fans are to protest against the club’s leadership.
He lasted just six months in charge, appointed in July, he leaves them 14th in the Championship — six points off the play-offs, after a 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United, and became Leicester’s 11th league loss in 29 games under Cifuentes.
The decision to sack sees Leicester searching for a sixth permanent manager since Brendan Rodgers’ departure in April 2023.
We can confirm that Martí Cifuentes has left his position as Leicester City First Team Manager with immediate effect.

CLUB STATEMENT:
We can confirm that Martí Cifuentes has left his position as Leicester City First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Martí took charge of the team in July 2025 and leaves with the thanks of everyone at Leicester City for his professionalism and dedication during his time with us.
Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Martí for the total commitment he has shown during his time at Leicester City. He gave everything to the role and worked tirelessly to help us achieve our targets.
“However, I believe this is the right step at this time to improve performances and results, and to act in the best interests of Leicester City Football Club. Martí leaves with our thanks and our best wishes for the future.”
First Team Coach Andy King will take charge of team preparations on an interim basis while we undertake a process to appoint a permanent manager.

PROJECT RESET STATEMENT:
A toxic shambles.
This has all the hallmarks of a manager that has lost the plot & given up.
Players have given up.
Fans divided & have given up.
Owner hasn’t cared for years.
Where do we go from here?
Finances are beyond repair, points deduction imminent & a squad of overpaid players with an attitude problem.
As unacceptable as our performances are, you cannot fix a sinking ship by swapping the captain.
Sacking the manager just treats a symptom, not the cause.
Our foundations are rotten to the core.
Fuck it, we’ll protest again then.
Get your 🍿ready, we gonna have fun this szn 😂 🫠

John Percy tweeted: “Marti Cifuentes sacked by #lcfc. Announcement expected later today. While this is a results business, and performances have been v inconsistent, Cifuentes has worked under big restrictions and spent the same amount of money on transfer fees – zero – as Sheff Weds.”
Project Reset replied: “Well that’s that then. Who next? I wouldn’t expect any decent manager to touch us with a barge pole.
“Points deduction looming, a squad filled with overpaid rotten eggs, a DoF with an abysmal track record and no money to spend, a disinterested chairman & a fanbase losing patience.
“Next stop, League One. A shameful end to our greatest ever era.”
Here’s how Twitter users reacted amid the favourites to become new Leicester manager after sacking Marti Cifuentes; with fans to protest against the club’s leadership…
@FosseHub: King Power and Rudkin next
@ChampionshpTalk: Rudkin in the same taxi?
@TAIEpodcast: Sack the idiots who have hired the past 3 managers. Fucking ridiculous appointments. Time to sell up now Aiyawatt, you’re solely to blame for the demise. Sell up. #KingPowerOUT
@ANT_LCFC: Can’t wait for him to be replaced by someone equally incompetent
@EdTucker89: I genuinely feel sorry for him. Made lots of errors that contributed to our poor form, but had a hell of a lot to deal with. Let down by players and massively by those above him at the club. I don’t know where we go from here 😔 #lcfc
@JSM1884: Another person taking the fall for Rudkin & Top. Gerrum gone
@darthgardiner: I feel for him a bit having no backing and having a squad that’s been relegated twice and are just a bunch of serial losers with ego problems, but he didn’t help himself, the players look unfit and pissing away attacks by sending it to the back. Tops running out of scapegoats tho
@dharvey4: Your problems go much deeper than one manager.
@apb_bish: If Rudkin isn’t next then this sacking is a waste of time . Feel sorry for the next manager
@NH1884: Hope he never gets a job anywhere else again. King Power OUT 👍🏽
@richjacques10: A good first step as we were going nowhere under Marti, but nothing really changes until Rudkin goes and we sign a striker who knows how to score
@holyland2: Now get rid of Rudkin and any dead weight in the dressing room 🙌🏼
@Bedfordfoxajb: Not a surprise, one of the worst managers in recent times. However that’s 3 absolutely horror show apts by Top and Rudkin on the bounce so zero confidence they get it right. And until things change in the boardroom it will remain an utter mess. Sort it or sell up Top #LCFC
@craiglcfc: It’s a start. How about our failing DOF too? And then pop the club up for sale if the owner can’t be arsed to support it in a competent manner?
