Fans tell Coventry City to reconsider ‘awful’ changes which is affecting Junior Sky Blues supporters ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The recent alterations impacting Junior Sky Blues supporters at Coventry City have triggered quite the backlash on social media.
Numerous supporters, including parents and long-distance fans who purchased season tickets are feeling frustrated by the diminishing value of their investment.
There is a growing sense that the club is driving the upcoming generation of Coventry fans away, with certain modifications actively excluding children despite the original intention of the Junior Sky Blues to broaden the fan base beyond those who could attend matches regularly.

As mentioned, fans tell Coventry City to reconsider ‘awful’ changes affecting Junior Sky Blues supporters…
@rossmacleodputt: We live too far away for season tickets. My 6 year old got fully onboard with Cov after the Wembley experience. Was telling me āMan City are my 1st teamā before that š¤¦. He was so excited about becoming a JSB after me going on about it! Thanks for this.
@lewisgart0n: This is gonna go down wellā¦
@thejodiefry: Jeez, Doug not doing much to prove he doesnāt hate kids šš
@BadManBadly: Yeah I think this is a very poor move. Alienating young kids who perhaps donāt have the luxury of their parents being able to afford season tickets. At least this was a way to feel connected to the club for a lot less outlay. I think youāre going to need to reverse this one!
@Marcbesty: This is poor! I didn’t get a season ticket due to the restrictions put in place on the JSB zone because my 3 year old wouldn’t be able to attend a lot of the games and now she’s no longer able to be a member of the JSB’s.
@skybluelee76: Appalling decision for those of us who live away from Coventry. Stunned by this. My kids have been JSBs since they were babies. š”
@mozccfc1987: Need to hear the rationale behind this but on surface seems a poor decision.
@harris_m_78: I wonder if Doug King realised that heās destroying a legacy originally put in place by the great Jimmy Hill?
@gmkonline: Pardon. What? Why? So my non season ticket attending daughter, who can’t attend because of her kick off times, can’t be a JSB?
@robgrey: You might want to rethink this
@CrispyDoon: Bit harsh this..
@RyanNeil_: This seems completely unnecessary.
@Moza_10: Wow you know how to treat your younger fans #dissapointed , so what happens to all memberships currently active until after their 3rd birthday?
@Cookiedisco: Why? Just how does this benefit the #pusb community?
@darrenbassett8: Pourquoi? This is going to reduce the number of junior supporters club members, who eventually grow up, earn money and buy season tickets and much more. Feels an odd decision
@Patch_Adams_319: What a shame – we have two season tickets – my second son isnāt ready to go to games but has felt involved with his JSB in previous seasons. I agree with others – this is a detrimental move that will affect young supporters becoming committed season ticket holders.
@mikesmith1987: seems unduly harsh tbh
@westendcov: I’m struggling to see any positives from this decision to be honest. But hey, lets trust DK as he seems to know what he is doing. #PUSB
@Pud5ie: I don’t get the logic of this. I can’t see how there is any upside for the club – surely if a kid wants to be a JSB and feel connected to the club they should be able to irrespective if they even go or not, let alone a STH. This needs to be explained.
@Lucymcdxo: TERRIBLE decision!
@YorkSB87: This is a dreadful decision. The JSB membership meant I could afford to take my lad to the games that got him hooked, and guaranteed you a supporter for life. I don’t know how you think the amount gained will compensate for the fans lost from disenfranchising young families.
@Matty_PUSB: JSB membership should be free for all or available for a small cost for those without an ST, with incentives on match day ticket prices. We need to get those kids whose parents canāt afford a ST or live further away where it makes no sense to have an ST into the stadium.
@dawnfranklin39: Don’t think this has been seriously thought out , not encouraging young people to the club !!
@cranmer87: I’ve supported the decisions made regarding the family zone and season tickets. I think this is a step too far. I was a JSB as a kid which allowed my parents to send me to games.
@ccfcchat: Terrible move. A JSB membership is a chance for a young person to feel a special connection with the club even if they aren’t privileged enough to have a season ticket. Don’t ditch it because it’s additional admin or whatever. Don’t lose yourself city.
@cranmer87: I was looking at getting my son his first membership this year so he could attend his first game when he had turned 2. I’m not buying a season ticket for a child who doesn’t turn 2 till April! Not sure who’s advising Doug, but they need removing ASAP
@RobPUSB: Good decision. We are starting to be run properly. If youāre not a season ticket holder, you shouldnāt be able to claim the benefits of JSB. Itās a match goers package.
@realgoodie: This is nuts – my son loves being a JSB as it builds a connection with the club, particularly as we live an hour away. For that reason we wonāt be buying a season ticket – talk me through the logic of taking away the JSB membership? If about cash then reduce the ticket discount
@yraelmas: Became a JSB at 4/5 years old after my first game which led to me and my dad getting consecutive season tickets and travelling all over the country to watch Cov. I canāt really see a positive as to why this was done?
