The odd choice of shoes wasn’t enough to put Micky Mellon and his side off as they went on to beat Morecambe 3-1.
Cole Stockton put the hosts in front after just two minutes hit the ball into the bottom left corner before James Norwood who scored from close range.
Rovers went into the break leading 3-0 when Jay Harris headed in from six yards on the stroke of half time.
Jim Bentley’s side managed to pull one back on the 66th minute thanks to Jordan Cranston, however the Shrimps couldn’t create a comeback.
The result meant Tranmere climbed up to 8th in League Two – two points away from Forest Green in the final playoff spot, Morecambe however fall to 20th – five points above the relegation zone.
It’s not the first time this has happened either, one linesman was also spotted with wrong shoes during Millwall v Fulham a few months ago, find out more by clicking HERE.
The linesman’s odd choice of footwear got plenty of reaction on social media with many mocking him, even footballer Lee Trundle got in on the act – see what they all had to say on the next page.
