Fans have slammed the Twitter admin behind Basford United’s account for ‘taking pleasure in one of their own players being forced off injured’.
Earlier this season, Basford loaned Scarborough Athletic defender Dominic Roma, only to appear to laugh at him picking up an injury by using the ? emoji.
One fan said: “Imagine a club account taking pleasure in one of their own players being forced off injured …. incredible from @Basfordutdfc this.”

The club then deleted the tweet and threatened to recall the loan player back if anyone else thought they were laughing at their player getting injured at his loan club.
They also said in response to another fan: “Absolute pathetic and this shows what’s wrong with social media. Dom Roma is our player & his welfare is at the utmost of our thinking. The post depicted concern. If @safc are anyone else thinks otherwise we will immediately recall.”

Basford tried to defend themselves, saying the emoji they used was the correct one.
It's a crying one, a pathetic attempt to stir mischief.

Of course, there is a huge different as the one they used has a smile…
What you tweeted: ??
What crying looks like: ?? or ??
Notice how the crying emojis don’t have MASSIVE SMILES on them.
