CLUB STATEMENT:
The Club can confirm that Pete Wild and Adam Temple have left the Club following the end of their short-term contracts.
Pete and Adam joined Rovers on an interim basis as Manager and Assistant Manager in March and achieved their aim of keeping the Club in League Two.
We thank them both for their hard work in their time at the Club and wish them the best of luck for the future.
The process of appointing a new manager is already underway.
The Club can today confirm the retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
The following players remain in contract for the 2026/27 campaign:
Luke McGee, Lee O’Connor, Jordan Turnbull, Nathan Smith, Patrick Brough, James Plant, Nohan Kenneh, Lewis Warrington, Charlie Whitaker, Josh Williams, Joe Ironside and Connor Jennings, while Sam Finley’s contract has been extended by a year after the midfielder met a contractual stipulation.
The Club is in discussions with Ryan Watson about returning to pre-season training at the end of June.
The following players will return to their parent Clubs following the end of their loan spells at Prenton Park: Jayden Joseph, Marko Marosi, Jack Barrett, Billy Blacker, Will Tamen, Zech Obiero, Stephan Negru, Dylan Jones and Max Dickov.
As announced last week, Joe Murphy has retired from football following the end of the campaign.
Following discussions with the Club’s football staff, at this point the following players whose current contracts expire this summer will not be offered new deals: Kristian Dennis, Cameron Norman, Omari Patrick, Jason Lowe, Josh Davison, Richie Smallwood, Sol Solomon, Harvey Saunders, Sam Taylor, Ethan Bristow, Aaron McGowan and Kaiyne Woolery. The process of appointing a new manager is underway.
We thank the players for their efforts and wish them the best of luck for the future.
Wild said, as per Wirral Globe, after keeping Tranmere up: “This has weighed heavily on me over the last six weeks.
“I could see it on faces, I could see it on the staff, the players and the fans how heavy this has weighed on them too.
“It’s been the toughest six weeks of my career and I’ve learned a lot about myself and what you need to do in these situations.
“I’m just so pleased for the fans, the staff and the players of this football club that they will be in League Two next season.
“I was asked to come in and do a job and we’ve been able to do that job with all the staff and we’ve got over the line. It wasn’t pretty but we found a way.
“There’s a lot that needs to be discussed and there’s a lot I feel needs to change and I have to decide if I am the right one.
“There’s a lot to consider and I think I just need to take stock of everything and the club needs to take stock of where they are at.
“This is a huge, huge, ship that needs to turn and it’s not turned yet.”
Wild added: “I could cry – I’ve done 330 football matches at this level and that today is my biggest achievement and the toughest test in football of them all.
“I’m so proud that I’ve been able to deliver for the fans. This club has a lot of stuff that it needs to change to be better and move in a different direction.
“There needs to be some patience along the way because these things don’t change quickly unless you’ve got buckets full of cash like MK Dons. It’s whether people have the understanding to allow things to change slowly and gradually.”
Fans react with Tranmere’s search for a new manager underway following Pete Wild’s departure…
@PeterConroy89: Wouldn’t be surprised if it was them that said no rather than us. Wild alluded to the clubs red flags a few times
@Archied74221936: Done their job in keeping us in the football league 👏🏻👏🏻
@trfcjonesy: Back off to Oldham you fuck, hope theres traffic on the 62 👋 No point even thinking about appointing anyone until Palios has gone.
@SLedgard77841: Bring him home @FCHTOnline
@HenryFCHT: @FCHTOnline I am begging you
@kieran1884: Done their job wasn’t the prettiest. However, the problems at this football club lie a lot deeper
@DaveCooper1996: Wouldn’t have been against him staying (I know I’d be in the minority) but we stayed up and all that matters. Wish them well going forward.
@RicciTRFC: Right decision for both parties. However, the process is already underway with MP leading it which means another dud because the man is incapable of hiring a good manager. Or doing anything good actually #trfc #swa
@cjetrfc: #he in the background survives again, shock.
@woodywilson1976: I’d be cheeky an go 4 Clint Hill lol I know he’s happy at Stockport but a lot of assistant managers wud luv a crack at manager especially with his close links to Rovers…!
@Gidsentinel: Absolute basket case of a season and fair play for coming in and having a go regardless of how it worked out. 💪 to the future 🇸🇱
@lrookehufc1: Fuck Lee Clark off and get this man in @Official_HUFC
@RebekahP1nk: Can’t thank Pete and Andy enough… they could see the red flags all over the inner workings of the club… just wish they would announce the take over is done .
@cjetrfc: The one thing that Wild said that resonated with me was about how we need a manager that we can get behind and stay behind, need someone that’ll be here for years.
@ZakHayes6: Sound. Thanks for your efforts. Now, Parkinson out and most importantly, PALIOS OUT.
@JMRphin: Right, here’s the answer @LeighBromby @chrismaxwell01. Cattermole & Agnew team made sense…but Pete Wild knows this division, and the ones above if we have success. This is the appointment Hartlepool need. Keep up the good work fellas and give Pete a call!
It was hard work but many thanks for keeping us up Pete! 🤍💙 #SWA pic.twitter.com/oqLvCFxlBj
