Fans left gutted over ‘utterly INSANE’ ticket prices revealed for Man Utd v Wrexham in USA

Fans have been left gutted over the ‘utterly INSANE’ ticket prices revealed for the Man Utd v Wrexham friendly this summer in USA.

The Red Devils revealed they will take on the National League side, owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds earlier this week at the Snapdragon Stadium on the 25th of July.

Tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster for the match at the venue of 35,000 seats –  which s the home to San Diego Wave, a National Women’s Soccer League club.

Fans have criticised the ticket prices for the fixture, which will not even feature Man Utd’s main stars. Resale tickets are available at £283.

George Biagi writes: The ticket prices are fucking obnoxious. I’m so bummed. Cheapest seat right now is $125 in the upper deck, most expensive is $700. I’d rather save my money and fly to Wales next year and see Wrexham at The Racecourse after they promote.

Oli Winton said that it was “utterly insane” to imagine what they think will be a United youth reserve team playing in San Diego against Wrexham, saying reported that prices were $250 behind the goals and $180 back at the top tier.

“Pre-season tours are always a great occasion to give opportunities for our most promising young Academy players to gain valuable experience in the first-team environment, and this match against Wrexham is a great example of that.

“Manchester United has a history of nurturing and promoting youth and this is a chance for not only Erik [ten Hag] but also our US supporters to assess the homegrown talent that is developing within our Academy, and hopefully to be able to say, ‘I saw him here first,’ if some of those players go on to establish themselves as first-team regulars.”

As mentioned, fans are left gutted over the ‘utterly INSANE’ ticket prices revealed for Man Utd v Wrexham in the USA…

@Keithyoungwxm: Absolutely scandalous the price of these

@the_mikeyb1246: Awesome job @Ticketmaster make something not reachable for people…

@racecourserambl: Awful company, won’t surprise me in future if we find out they are making off the scalpers also

@ScottMoreton5: Are they raising Michael Jackson from the dead for the halftime show? #WxmAFC

@whoodywhowho: It is going to get SOOOO much worse. Tickets I bought are going for 4X face value already.

@bunnyhustle: Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

@CochionDubaiUAE: Planned Family trip to US from UAE to watch the Reds cancelled due to extortionate prices. Price of 1 ticket is the price of 1 season ticket. Also paid less to watch all Wales games at the world cup. Glad the club makes some money from this but really disappointing nonetheless

@Andy_SportFC: The call is coming from inside the house. Ticketmaster themselves are the scalpers in a lot of cases, particularly with their new dynamic pricing model.

@jklevine63: Prices are insane

@anthony_fen: Ticketmaster is an absolute sham

@Russ88747047: $300/ticket for nose bleeds after fees!!! What a joke, family of four can’t enjoy anything anymore.

@Trebor0111: Who set these ridiculous prices for academy man utd v Wrexham. It’s not even man utd first team. Would have been better playing likes stoke wolves etc in UK so our thousands Wrexham fans could go and watch at decent price for pre season.

@NovaScotiaReds: Wow. 200$ for a ticket ? Football is dead for the common supporter. To see MUFC kids v a 4the tier club.? Shame on football

@gracie59555833: @VancityReynolds @RMcElhenney so disappointed to hear you have got rid of the over 80s season tickets (£75) for a more broad over 65s (£289!). my grandad had been a season ticket holder since 2005; this is definitely not rewarding your oldest fans for their loyalty. he is now 87 and goes to every game, but can’t justify renewing his season ticket after such a price hike 🙁 a shame to see that older fans loyalty is no longer rewarded

@AndrewM21863757: $170 to Watch United academy against Wrexham, I don’t know if I should shake the marketing managers hand or call the police to report a robbery.

@JakeWilliams47: Minimum $250 to get in the door for the team that’s all about the working class people

@Louisejones283: This is mental! The other day when i looked at tickets they were only $60 a seat

@Scott71400232: The prices keep going up. My $65 tickets jumped to $75 during checkout and these are high upper deck seats. Everything in lower level is double the cost or higher. Ticketmaster surge pricing is doing this.

@1987_evans: Too expensive for a friendly I’m off to benidorm instead 🙃
