Fans were left in disbelief at a non league club’s facilities as highlights of a 7th tier match goes viral across social media.

Hednesford Town played host to FC United of Manchester in front of a bumper atmosphere, playing out a 1-1 draw in front of a record Keys Park crowd of 4,784.

Dominic McHale gave the Pitmen a half time lead with a low shot, but Ruben Singh-Grewal levelled with on 57 minutes.

It means the Hednesford’s unbeaten run extends to 10 matches. They are top of the Northern Premier League – Premier Division with 45 points from 23 game splayed. FC United are 3rd with 40 points from 21 games played.

@hfc_felix retweeted footage, with the caption: “Genuinely cannot get over how mental this is. Electronic advertising boards, massive digital scoreboard, 4,000 home fans and 600 away fans in the SEVENTH TIER!? Mate what on earth 🤯🤯”

It has gone on to get over a million views, and over 14,000 likes, as well as hundreds of comments from fans who had come across the tweet.

Hednesford manager Gavin Hurren said, per Express & Star: “They were a very good side and to an extent both sides cancelled each other out after a great strike by Dom for us which what we know he can do.

“The atmosphere was fantastic with a capacity crowd and both sets of supporters played their part in what was a big occasion between two good teams.

“I thought we had the better of the chances in the second half but they have some very good players and they played well so I am fairly happy with the point which extends the unbeaten run and sees us go into the New Year on top of the table.”

As mentioned, fans were left in disbelief with highlights of a 7th tier match going viral…

@puffpuff65: Crowds of 5k and Electronic advertising boards, what in the football league is this!?

@LRbix: You’d think this is a Football League game based on the crowd and electronic advertisement boards

@ConceptScouting: Glad to see Hednesford getting the recognition they deserve. Serious owners who have invested legitimate money into a big club at non-league level. They’ll be in League 2 within 5 years.

@MatchDayFeverr: Incredible facilities. Electronic advertising boards in non league. Over 4.5k attendance. Welcome to Hednesford Town 👏

@dauntekcrawford: Facilities that would rival league clubs. @Hednesford_Town have undertaken infrastructure upgrades, invested in pitch technology, and moved towards renewable energy. At this level, success is built on foundations. Much of this innovation is long term, not cosmetic.

@ohdontcry: Non league football is thriving in places. If people engage their communities and give them something feel a part of it works. People are falling out of love with there league clubs due to the lack of community feel.

@altybob: Hi, IT is happening because fans have enough of the Premier greed ridiculous ticket prices, Appalling kick of times Var. Non League Affordable football, 3-PM kick offs, Cash paying on the turnstiles, a drink With the lads on the terrace

@Djhdanieljhbcfc: Non league seems to be thriving at the minute. Probably because all the efl games happened on boxing day. We managed to get 500 people in yesterday at step 5

@ElliottArbon: Non league is probably the single beneficiary of extreme ticket pricing + fan alienation in the prem and efl. In addition to the amount of ex pros now in even the 8th tier, increasing the quality on the pitch, now has never been a better time to visit your local team

@KH1888_: That’s a lovely wee stadium as well. It’s great to see the lower leagues in England doing so well

@JustinWalley10: I think there is a massive disconnect with the Premier League/Champions League and your average punter just wants to enjoy actual real football in a real stadium with real supporters and real warts and all footballers

@IronBornJonny: Non league is a far more enjoyable matchday experience than watching the prem, its affordable, sat/stood practically on the pitch, can drink beer in view of the pitch at a lot of grounds, easy to get tickets, away days are more local depending which league.

@HLTCO: Protect the English football pyramid; it’s absolutely incredible.

@Merlin3711: Love to see it. This is what happens when fans are priced out at the top level and fans have had enough and fallen out of love with football. Embrace your communities and love football again. Fair play 👏🏻👏🏻

@supergutman: I dread the IRL convos about why I switched from City to Rochdale. Comes up a lot because everyone knew me as mad City fan but there’s not much to say, no moral or ethical grounds. I just like it. Get to stand up, tickets are cheap, feel more connected and yeah, that’s enough.
