Fans in awe of stunning finishes as highlights of Wrexham v Barnet’s 12-goal thriller is released

Fans have been left in awe of the stunning finishes as highlights of Wrexham v Barnet’s 12-goal thriller is released overnight.

The Welsh outfit scored seven for the first time in 27 years, shaking off their top-of-the-National League-table defeat by Notts County in midweek with their biggest score since hitting seven past Rotherham in 1995.

Barnet had gone ahead briefly in the first half with two goals in three minutes from Nicke Kabamba and Harry Pritchard.

But Wrexham managed to turn the scoreline around, leading 7-3 in the second half before a late Barnet brace gave the hosts a late scare.

Aaron Hayden nodded Wrexham in front after just eight minutes but Barnet, with have picked up just one win in their last six games, responded with quick double to lead.

Wrexham took a 3-2 lead before the break through Thomas O’Connor’s deflected free-kick and Paul Mullin’s 10th of the season.

Barnet then levelled the scoreline for the second time early in the second half through Sierra Leone international Idris Kanu.

However second goals for Mullins, Hayden and a powerful drive by captain Luke Young put Wrexham 7-3 up on the hour.

Kabamba and Kanu both got their second goals of the game in the closing 10 minutes, but it was too late to with Wrexham holding on to stay in second place with 29 points.

Notts County are a point ahead of them with 30 points, Boreham Wood are third with 25 points.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: “The positive is the attacking play which was terrific. We can score goals from all areas and today we were clinical. Some of the football was really excellent.

“But the negative is that, as a team, we were lacklustre in our defending. It was almost as if we thought the job was done, but it wasn’t, so we had to go again. You can’t switch off defensively like that.

“Any manager whose side score seven would be delighted and it’s a good three points, but there are still things we need to do better.”

As mentioned, fans were in awe of some stunning finishes as highlights of Wrexham v Barnet’s 12-goal thriller is released…

@CS1857899: 5th Barnet goal wow

@UnitedLeeds_1: Is this league like that every week cos if it is I’m switching now 😂

@GerWillzLFC: Wrexham practically is they’ve had 5 games there they’ve scored 4 or more goals including 6-0 wins, 7-5, 2x 5-0 and a 4-1 others include a 3-2, 3-1 and a 2-1 which has a last minute winner

@Sutton_1612: Barnets 5th is unreal

@Hawkswo87033804: Better sort your defence out lads.

@duncanyoung68: You have to see some of the defending to believe it. Of course it’s lower lever but these are ‘professional’ footballers.

@AronDavies12: Value for money in the national league is brilliant

@rossi_1411: Some utter worldies in here 🤯

@N187292: One of the best leagues about for entertainment

@alxmxw: Their last goal is one of the best goals I’ve ever seen here to be fair

@Aidan_Gamble: Shambles at the back from us. We clearly don’t devote as much time to defending as going forward. Wrexham are a good team, but you don’t need to be when we gift goals like we did with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 5th. Feel for our keeper (though why we’ve got a wall for the 2nd 🤷)

@brandonJLchambs: A game full of decent strikes and terrible defending.

@DaveTimms6: The art of defending right here 👀

@Onside_Offside: Barnet. Attacking we look sound, least said about the defending the better. Conceded 21 goals in 4 games now..

@LONBeesKnees: Non League Football 🚀

@Nick_wba_70: Mad game of football 🤦‍♂️

@DarranPearce: Amazingly I think the 12th goal was the best of the lot

@JoeFromCymru: Howard has to do better for the first two. That fifth is an absolute thunder bastard

@baugh10_david: Some great goals and some not so great , jeez

@RyanAHall: A few @TheVanaramaNL goal of month/season contenders in here! ⚽💥

@CS1857899: Oft. Check that last goal. Belter

@Spbailey0791: Im assuming this was wrexham’s commentary because the unenthusiasam when barnet scored there goals is ridiculous if not

@DanWrexham: Some of that defending 😬 Barnet’s 5th goal is absolutely ridiculous too

@Dansuckling9: Some bangers in here
