Fans hit out at Curtis Woodhouse’s ‘cold-hearted take’ on Phil Foden temporarily leaving the Euros for the birth of his child.
On Thursday (27th June), the former footballer turned boxer tweeted: “If Foden has gone home for the birth of his child I don’t rate it at all.
“You can scream and shout at me all you like but it’s a losers mentality. Stay locked in, the baby will still be a baby when you get home. Rubbish ⚽️”
@trevor8sinclair responded: “It could work the other way Curtis. When I returned home in 2002 for 24 hrs, under different circumstances, it was so uplifting to see my family and the reason why I felt so refreshed rejoining camp & ended up thriving during the tournament.”

Madness! Flying home then flying back when he should be resting. Basically given up https://t.co/1VdzBBlLqe

Wouldn’t be playing in the next game if it was up to me. https://t.co/WvWioyVA0p

On Wednesday, Phil Foden left the camp behind and returned to England to be with his partner Rebecca Cooke who gave birth to a baby boy.
He was making his way back to Germany on Thursday to rejoin his teammates ahead of the Euros knockout stages after the birth of his third child.
He is due to train with the rest of the squad on Friday and is still in contention to play in the last 16 match against Slovakia on Sunday.

But it seems Curtis Woodhouse’s given a ‘cold-hearted take’ on Phil Foden leaving Euros for birth of child, fans hit out at what he said…
@BenjaminYeezus: Tell me you took too many blows to the head. Without telling me you took too many blows to the head.
@RCoat13: No way, football or not, that’s a cold-hearted take. What if it’s not a straightforward pregnancy? All mothers need help after birth regardless
@DejoKojic: Your talking about winning as if you have some expertise on the matter? The kids a treble winner, sit this one out lad
@tufty_club: It’s a loser’s mentality to put your job before your family
@Rands89: Probably the worst take I’ve ever seen.
@KBA_NI: No football match, or anything for that matter, would stop me being with my wife while our child is being born. Football will come and go, your child is your life
@KopFinest: A man who has won the treble and countless other trophies at 23 being told he has a loser’s mentality on twitter. Alreyt pal👍
@JayMitchinson: Nah, no way. That’s an awful take. Private jets are like buses to these guys. He can be home and back before most of us can get to work and back, and in much more comfort. If anything, it shows a commitment to responsibility and decency. Characteristics any leader needs.
@lukebasford1: Proper loser ain’t he ? Only 6 league titles, champions league. Top goal scorer. Yeah proper loser being a good dad and caring for his wife. What if something happened to his new baby or wife.
@MotorCityCobro: How many European championship games did you play in pal?
@emmie__92: Phil Foden, that loser who’s won 16 major trophies at 23. How dare he be there for the birth of his child!
@Doc_Joshi: Curtis Woodhouse talking about a treble winner like this? Ahahahahaha!!! Fucking hell. Even as a United fan I’m on Foden’s side. Curtis Woodhouse?! Locked in?! It’s early for you but go to bed. You crank.
@jwalker1889: Losers mentality 😂😂😂 you’re essentially saying choose a day at work over the birth of your child. Dumb bloke
@amdlfc91: Don’t like England or Foden but you can’t knock someone for wanting to be there for the birth of their kid? What if he wasn’t there and something goes wrong ? You don’t have to act tough behind that keyboard mate. We all know you were a boxer. 🤡
@Charl_H79:
Firstly: losers mentality to a top footballer in the PL with medals – strange
Secondly: we don’t know anything about the birth. For all we know there could be complications. But either way god forbid a father actually want to see his child born.
@DannyCaldecott: Each to their own but I’m there for my child & partner. Not that you’d need it but imagine the increased energy, focus & desire from becoming a Dad for the 1st, 2nd etc time. Foden will be on cloud 9! Most incredible gift in the world just experienced, heading back to camp ❤️🔥⚽️
@MarshyBoy26: Family before football always, being present for the birth of your children will always, always come first & be more important. Losers mentality would be missing it. He can return & he’ll be more up for it becoming an old man again
@Christoph0512: It shows maturity, responsibility, and decency. He’ll have been away for two days and then back in plenty of time to prepare for Sunday’s game.
@PieCarlton: Worst post I’ve seen in a while. I take it you have no kids or no longer with the kids mother?
@Wacca1970: It’s a short flight it’s not like it’s the other side of the world give him a break.
@CharlieFarnsba9: There is nothing, absolutely nothing that comes before family.
@kevdodds: You don’t let your partner go through that alone. If anything happened and he’s in Germany then what? 20 years time he won’t look back and think oh I wished I never seen the birth of my child and was with England when we got knocked out 🙄 That’s If he even misses a game
@Liam_hirst: If Something had happened during the birth he would have never forgive himself. Sometimes there are things more important than football. Maybe don’t play him this game, but can’t blame him for going
@nathc92: He’s already back in Germany any man worth the title “father” would have been there for his family just to check on his wife and his baby to make sure they’re good. He can be locked in now he knows rather than letting his mind wonder. Lads done what every dad should’ve done.
@treble87: I’ll bet your kids are thrilled that you value a few training sessions over key moments in their life. And your wife delighted that you wouldn’t be there for support. They’re very lucky to have you.
@jasonshirt1: Bonding is so important in the first few hours. Skin on skin important for dads.
@IanMill48823752: Got to disagree there and that’s poor form I’m afraid
@misslauralou: Imagine not wanting to miss the birth of your baby. You know, supporting your missus, being one of the first to hold your child…for literally a piss poor England side 🤣
@doncasterblues1: I do sometimes wonder if these ex pro’s engage their brains before commenting, it’s the birth of his kid not coming back for a bit of a jolly. Fair play to Phil for going to the euro’s in the first place knowing his partner could give birth at anytime. Congratulations @PhilFoden
@DebsHLUFC:
No point screaming and shouting, you don’t get it.
Foden and the England team are fine with it.
I’m sure he’ll ask you next time 🙄
Oh n he might not rate you but there you go. 🤷♀️
#priorities.
@TheDB30: Would you stand for it if you were working in a call centre and they wouldn’t let you leave early for the birth of your child? It’s a job, there’s more important things in life than football.
@Mike48675319768: Family always comes 1st
@Sparra06_: Ever thought the pregnancy wasn’t set to be straight forward. Don’t care how much we want to win a trophy with England family would always come first
@Duzc1972: Totally disagree, what a moment in your life being there for the birth of your child, be there for your partner & other children, missing his other kids meeting there new sibling for 1st time. Not going would not make him perform better. Congratulations to the Foden family!!
@Bern_lufc: I’d wanna be there as a dad. Being a dad over anything career wise personally. Careers will come and go. Being there at vital times for your family will mean so much more.
@AndrewJ91455285: I think it would send a really strong message to the world if he didnt to go back, that some stuff is more important. Those early days are so special. Football is very much secondary.
@Vaughany1973: It’s literally an hours or so flight so like him driving from London to Birmingham. No big deal and maybe it’ll be the best thing for him
@abbo08: The lads taken an hour flight on a private jet to see his kid born and back again, don’t understand how it’s even in the news. Any man given that option would do the same
@MrWales75: Disagree, he’d have discussed wi manager,he may have 2 make difficult, life decisions around child/partner, as soon as he’s know both are well & healthy, he’s back in hotel within hours, as it’s only Germany, but somethings are more important, from a man that’s lost childs life in birth
Is this you? pic.twitter.com/e3BJHYX2qL
