Fans fight, steward punched and a referee’s phone stolen amid trouble at the Worksop v Macclesfield game on Saturday afternoon.
It took place inside and outside Worksop’s Sandy Lane ground, with Nottingham Post reporting that a steward was attacked, and the club director calling the incident as the most severe in years.

He was then banned from the ground and received a conditional caution.
A video which has surfaced on social media also saw both sets of fans clashing, while a supporter assaulting a steward had to be restrained.
Worksop Town director Keith Ilett adds that the referee’s belongings, including his watch and phone, were also stolen from the changing rooms.

“It kicked off just before half time for about 10 minutes, a steward got bad facial injuries,” he said. “It simmered down then until the end of the match. Fans were stood waiting outside and then people started fighting in the middle of the road.”
He did however speculate that there were fans of other clubs who went to the game that decided to get involved in the fighting.
“We’ve had no trouble in the ground since the 2000s, we haven’t got fighting fans, we take about 100 to an away match,” he added.
“If anyone has caused any problems and has been caught on camera they will be banned from the games.”
He goes on to say that the Northern Premier League team are looking to go ahead with segregation for home and away from the 2024/25 season, though this isn’t to do with a crowd trouble.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of assault after a steward was reportedly assaulted inside the ground.
“He was subsequently given a conditional caution, including a ban from attending the ground.”

Social media users gave their reaction after seeing fans fight, a steward punched and a referee’s phone stolen amid trouble at Worksop v Macclesfield…
@renny_overton: Not the first time there has been trouble with Worksop fans trying to scrap away fans
@SaintsFCRoblox: The invisible wall strikes again 🔥
@Nick_Baker777: Scuffle in a bus shelter! Good responsible adults, behaving accordingly with all those kids around 👌
@Madden1976: Does it kick off at every non league game these days? 😂
@toptargets: Two wrongs make a fight. Morons!
@Jasep2005: What is happening in the lower leagues
@pxst88: Who would be a steward nowadays
@1905talk: absolute melts the lot of them
@mickhart76: All kids who’ve watched to much of Danny Dyer
@Brotonswfc: Giving a steward a hiding 😂 ffs
@PaulWeathersto4: I hate trouble at football below the national leagues. I watch football at step 5 and enjoy meeting fans from other teams and having a beer while watching the game.
@heyit5sam: What do you scrap over in a part time league ðŸ˜
@nigel413: 🤣🤣🤣 wtf was that
@Wannabe_Ultras: Phukin pathetic. Token effort of trying to get past a steward. Ultimately, very happy that the steward stopped him. You can tell it’s just handbags because the other regular fans aren’t rushing to get out of the way of the carnage.
@AndrewB76214171: Grown man embarrassing himself in front of kids….what a shining example of how to behave…
Martin Harris: The young Worksop fans were also trying to intimidate Macc fans outside by getting in there faces and throwing pyros about (in Macc colours)
Brigg Simpson: It’s shocking what’s going on against the Macc fans- however as a parent who takes there kids all future away matches must be segregated
Brian Gibbons: What is most annoying is they kept macc fans back, when they got outside worksop fans waiting for macc fans to come out, it should have been the other way round so the macc fans would have been on the coaches and gone to catch the train.
Dave Nieman: Sadly it’s down to a breakdown in respect and kids bringing up kids!😕
bevbev234: The 10 year old probably deserved it but an adult doing it 💀
b3njamxnlxnckmxn5: Funny considering there was no 10 yo smacked and the worksop goons were attacking their own steward 😂
