Fans are loving Chris Wilder’s brutal response to Graeme Souness’ blunder which came during Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea on Sky Sports.
The former Liverpool defender and manager who is now a controversial pundit, addressed the Blades as “Sheffield”, causing many fans of United and Wednesday to be frustrated.
It’s not the first time the Scot has done so, but his latest slip-up saw him criticised by both club’s fans on social media on Sunday evening.

Now, boyhood Sheffield United fan Chris Wilder has responded by reminding Souness that the city proudly has two professional clubs – and that a similar error hardly ever happens with Manchester City and United.
“I’m not sure he’d get away with walking down London Road or Penistone Road saying just “Sheffield”,” Wilder told Yorkshire Live .
“I think their firm and our firm might have a few words to say to him.
“As I’ve said all along, it wouldn’t happen with Manchester but their comeback would be they’ve been ridiculously more successful than we have.
“But this is our city and there are two teams in the city and it’s Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
“We’re both proud of that. I don’t know whether it’s annoyance, but we don’t accept that.”

Tongue-in-cheek, Wilder then added: “It does wind us up so if he is trying to wind us up then Graeme’s doing a good job!”
Viewers tuning into the first Match of the Day episode of the 2019/20 season might have picked up on the presenter Gary Lineker making what might have seemed an error.
This left many Sheffield United fans in shock as they tuned into watch their team on the programme for the first time in 12 years.

Though it turns out to have been a deliberate joke after he had a Twitter exchange with a Blades fan earlier last week.
Social media user @philipbackhouse said: “So don’t forget it’s Sheffield United, United, The Blades or SUFC not Sheffield.”
Lineker replied back: “I’ve spent my whole life in football.
“Do you think for one moment that I’d make that sort of error?
Wishing you well for the new Premier League season and what’s more, I think Wednesday might surprise a few people.”
He was sort of right, in the Sheffield United went on finish high up in 9th place in the Prem, though he was wrong if you like on the Owls, who ended up in 16th in the Championship, I suppose impressed compared to this season.

@OwlPricey: He’s bang right.
@PatTheOwl: Made me laugh and he’s correct
@poker4leisure: It’s disrespectful to talk about either club as “Sheffield.” But I’m not sure it makes a convincing argument to speculate what football hooligans think
@sawyer_macca: Smash him lads
@Hill7Conor: It’s not often you’ll hear me agree with Wilder.. But he’s bang on here!!!

@AdamSWFC_: I mean he isn’t wrong
@RJPJournalism: Love this from Chris Wilder. It’s not hard for pundits to use proper team names.
