The Third Qualifying Round took played weekend commencing October 30th 2021 with there a total number of 78 ties, with teams remainig going from 222 down to 144, there were 87 new entries at this stage, with the losing teams getting £625 and the winners picking up £2,450.

One match that really caught people’s attention was Salisbury’s 2-1 win at Gosport Borough, but it was more the case because of this mass altercation.

Three red cards were shown, with Boro boss Shaun Gale dismissed, as were Gosport’s Ryan Woodford and Darren Mullings with a flare up breaking out in the second half.

The tie is described to have descended into chaos after Woodford’s challenge on Sam Ashton in front of the visiting dugout 10 minutes after the restart.

It was a tackle which enraged Salisbury management and they made their feelings known to Woodford – a near 10-minute break played out with Gosport boss Gale involved in a face-off with Mullings and several other players and staff from both sides coming onto the pitch.

Things were seemingly calming down when Gosport chairman Iain McInnes went pitchside to diffuse the situation but some supporters attempted to get into the dugout area to confront.

Prior to all that, the tie was settled with three goals in the opening nine minutes. Dan Wooden had fired the hosts ahead inside three minutes, only for Thomas Blair’s stunner on six minutes and Ashton’s winner after nine minutes.

Meanwhile, the biggest scoreline of the round came at Northern Premier League Division One East outfit Bridlington Town who conceded SEVEN to league rivals Marske United.

On the 8th minute, Hopson crossed from the right and Matty Tymon had the simplest of headers from close range to open the scoring.

The on the 15th minute, Tymon kept possession despite being fouled and played a perfect ball to Adam Boyes who fired home.

10 minutes later, Marske broke down the right through Boyes, who crossed for James Fairley who smashes it home from 12 yards.

Marske found themselves four up by the 24th minute, Butterworth picked out Boyes with a pinpoint pass and the Boshmeister slotted it home for his 25th goal of the season.

It was on the 60th minute when Fairley crossed from the right and Boyes’ nodded it in from close range

That was closely followed with Hopson sending the ball into the box which found the head of Tymon and it crashed in on the underside of the bar, 6-0 on the 63rd minute.

There was ore than enough time for Marske to get a seventh, Gott crossed for Tymon whose header was brilliantly saved but Boyes taps in the rebound for his 4th of the afternoon. What a season the former Man Utd trialist is having.
