First Round of FA Trophy sees FIVE upsets produced

It was the First Round of FA Trophy this weekend and it saw an incredible FIVE upsets produced by clubs in a lower tier than their opponents.

A number of National League ended up getting red faces after they were booted out. Along with the shocks, the afternoon also saw a huge amount of goals including a penalty shootout.

Dorking Wanderers from the National League South managed to hit three goals (from Jack Barham, Tom Richards and Jason Prior) past National League high flyers Bromley.

Northern Premier League side FC United of Manchester also produced an upset when they won 2-1 at home to National league North’s Kettering Town.

Dulwich Hamlet of the National League South travelled to Isthmian League club Hornchurch and lost 1-0 with Nathan Cooper’s goal early into the second half.

Southern League Central Division side Royston Town have stunned many by knocking out National League’s Boreham Wood with a 2-0 win with both of the goals coming from Adam Murray.

And lastly, National League North leaders King’s Lynn Town played out a 2-2 draw with league above Dover Athletic, and then pulled off a 4-2 win on penalties.

The FA Trophy First Round payments sees the losers pick up £1,500 and the winners a nice sum of £4,500.
