In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, the football club said: “Exeter City Football Club is aware of a video circulating on social media which shows an incident outside a city nightclub last night. At present the club can make no further comment.”
Samuel Nombe and Jamal Blackman are those allegedly caught up in the incident, those it’s not made clear as to what started the fight.
Various bits of footage have emerged online however and since had thousands of views, whilst also getting shared, leading to the club having to speak out on the matter.
It sounds like it’s set to be quite a busy week at the club for new manager Gary Caldwell, confirmed on Monday morning, with not only that to deal with but the game at Derby County in midweek then make the trip to Plymouth Argyle on Monday.

Caldwell said on being appointed: “It feels amazing, to be honest. When the job became available it was something I was really interested in because of the club’s history and the time that managers get given here is something that is unique.
“The whole process from first interview all the way through to when they called to offer me the job, they have been thoroughly professional – they are good honest people – and I’m genuinely thoroughly excited to be at the club and can’t wait to meet the player, get on the grass and get started.
“It’s a big move to Devon, but this is an exciting part of it and I’m looking forward to meeting people in the community and being part of the community and embrace all that is Exeter City.
“It is a great thing that the supporters are very much a part of running the football club and i’m looking forward to meeting them and understanding what their ambitions and plans are for the football club, and I then have to do all I can to make that a reality.
“I’ve spent most of my games as a manager in this division. I understand this league and how difficult it is – there is such a wide range of clubs – but it is a very competitive and with the right organisation and structure and work ethic, then you can achieve success in this league.
“I’ve been very lucky in my career that the clubs I’ve been at and the people I’ve worked with have been fantastic, and that’s the thing for me, you can never achieve success on your own, you need good people around you and you need togetherness.”

Fans gave their reaction as Exeter issue a statement on the video of a few players involved in a fight outside the city centre bar…
@JacobSwallow4: Didn’t one of the teammates sisters get assaulted so they backed it
@jORDS______: Disgusting, would never get that from Torquay players!
@Devon_Trader: Yeah, Torquay players have no fight.
@Bov__: No one knows the story behind it yet. Yes it admittedly doesn’t look good, but we don’t know what’s happened before.
@AndrewR43441645: Whatever the provocation, there can never be an excuse for professional athletes behaving like this!!
@HarveyTanner21: They’re human ffs! Not just professional athletes, they are not robots!!
@KayChalloner: The worst part of this is calling Terrace a ‘nightclub’
@waynefawcett: Looks terrible
@Worly82: 🤣 What a first day for Gary Caldwell
@graeme_marshall: Not a great look for the club. Nombe looks handy and I wouldn’t mess with big Jamal Blackman -backhanded someone half way up Exeter High Street
@HoppersGuide: The video is contained below but allegedly, there was a dispute about people harassing women in the women’s bathroom. If that context is true, then the anger is understandable. I’m sure the full truth will be forthcoming after investigations
@JohnBridger_: We could really do without players being suspended 🙄 #ECFC
@jascotting: Not a good look at all, 6’6 man shoving a woman to the floor.
@paultoner999: Exeter city players having a scrap on a night out.. how embarrassing.. hope the woman that got sent flying across the floor is ok? What a way to represent a club?? #ecfc shambles
@RyanPugh00: One normal day of ECFC is all I ask
