Ex-Premier League player’s son emulates his dad with impressive goal during non league match

An ex-Premier League player’s son emulates his dad with quite the impressive goal during a non league match on Tuesday night.

Trevor Sinclair will proud with his lad, Isaac Sinclair, showing great technique with his strike, which won it for Curzon Ashton in front of 326 fans in attendance.

Trevor actually tweeted having watched it back: “Iโ€™ve watched Isaac practice this 100โ€™s of times in the back garden as a kid, but watching him execute it in the National league north game last night, hit differently & made me very proud ๐Ÿ’™ Go again son @isaacsinclair11 @CurzonAshton”

He added: “Iโ€™d like to say itโ€™s in his genes ๐Ÿงฌ but itโ€™s all about Isaac & how disciplined he is ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ”

It’s three wins in three games now for The Nash, who are having a brilliant season so far, sitting 2nd in the National League North, 9 points, 6 goals and 1 conceded, having beaten Needham Market 3-0, South Shields 2-1 (that one with the controversial penalty decision, and the 1-0 win over Oxford City.

But now they get set to face Brackley Town (currently 17th with 3 points), after that, 20th place Darlington, and then Rushall Olympic (23rd).

Oxford City Starting XI: McKenzie-Lyle, Burley, Ashby, Jones, Coyle, Fleet ยฉ, McEachran (Potter 79′), Stretton, Siddik, Parker (Andrews 67′), Elliott-Wheeler (Carbon 79′)

Subs not used: Kpekawa, Roddy

Curzon Ashton Starting XI: Jones, Poscha, Matthews, Griffiths (Sobowale 90+1), Buckley-Ricketts (Waring 90+4′), Sinclair, Spencer ยฉ, Mols (Darby 90+1′), Hayhurst, Richards, Barton

Subs not used: Afuye, Mahon

Curzon boss Craig Mahon said post-match: Delighted, it’s probably what most of the league didn’t expect for us to have three three wins from three but I know what this dressing room is like I know what the players we have and we just go about our own business we like we like being sort of doubted against and but no Oxford came here tonight and I thought they they gave a great account of themselves some of the play some of the the move from their midfield really cut us out at times but the lads on the pitch done exactly what what was asked of them, they dealt with it and then obviously we had that little bit of magic to to score the goal so I’m over the moon but listen it’s only three games in and another 43 to go so what we’ll do now is we’ll regroup and focus on Saturday

Interviewer: As a player manager you’re sort of on both sides with a start like this what is your role making sure maybe they don’t get too ahead of themselves this early on

Craig: I just said to them in there listen stay humble obviously you want to enjoy it and they show the deserve when you win a match you should always enjoy it but there’s always another team looking to beat you and there’s going to be setbacks in the season we’re not going to go I think we’re going to go on unbeaten all season so it’s always going to be setbacks but we just got to enjoy this small one but remember that listen this is a long long way to go and we obviously want to do the best best for the club make sure we try to hit the standards that we did last year, we’re going go the right way but yeah we just got to stay humble and remember next game comes thick and fast and we’ve got to prepare properly for that cuz if we don’t that one will slip up

Interviewer: Before kickoff today the lineup was unchanged is there any reason for that or was it just keeping it fresh from the win on Saturday

Craig: Yeah I just thought on Saturday after the lads the lad’s put enough shift to to um to earn the right the start and I think Oxford City are similar to the South Shields, they play some fantastic football they press high they have some quality players so we knew it was going to be a similar game plan so we didn’t need to change anything um obviously if you look at this weekend we got Brackley away, that’s a different animal altogether so we’re what we’re doing is we’re trying to play the right people for the right games and making sure that everybody’s ready everybody’s waiting the subs are pushing certain lineup because of they they drop the standards they they’ll come in but at at the moment we we’ve got a really good group we’re we’re not only teammates but it feels like a friend like a good group of friends as well so when we come training or when we turn up to a match we we turn up we’re small in our face we’re positive we enjoy it and hopefully that comes across in the pitch as you can see the lads are all working for each other and it’s it’s just lovely to be part of that

Interviewer: Talking about that unchanged line it remained unchanged for the majority of the match up until the 90th minute, is it the case of if it’s not broken don’t fix it

Craig: Yeah listen I looked at the 7 minute and I thought about making a substitution but I can see the lads were getting tired but the lads who were playing they had understood the way Oxford were playing they sussed out the movements the shape and I thought well there there’s no point in changing it just yet because we’re dealing with it I think in the second half Bobby Jones didn’t have much to do apart from his crossing and catching he kicking which was fantastic but the lads in the pitch had sort of nullified them so I didn’t think I needed to change it as it got towards the end you could see some of the legs had gone a little bit and their concentration levels start to drop so that’s when we we decided to make a couple of changes and when they come on they look like they’ve been playing the full 90 so it’s been a great great result but it’s it’s only three wins so we’ve got to make sure as I said stay humble and focused on the next game

You can see what else he had to say in his interview below…
