Ex-EFL player Chris Zebroski fumes at ‘borderline cheating’ as a clip emerges of a controversial goal in the 9th tier match on Saturday.
Horley Town (playing in claret) picked up a 1-0 at Fleet Town after a bizarre sequences of events, which can be seen below, but be sure to make it full screen.
Fleet Town described the moment via their website, writing: “Just after the hour mark, Fleet won another corner, taken by sub Momodou Jallow played into the box, after several players got touches it was played back to Ibitayo Oyebola to fire into the net, both sides believed the referee had signalled for the goal and with most of the Fleet side celebrating in front of their fans and some Horley players making their way into positions for a kick off, the referee made no attempt to tell Fleet players it was not a goal.
“The Horley keeper collected the ball and put in down in the six yard box and belted it downfield, one Horley player ran after it, one on one against Smart, Callum brought off a save but the ball ran loose for Josh Rapson to tap into the empty net, after a lot of complaints and discussion between the officials the Horley goal stood.”
Chris Zebroski, assistant player/manager for Fleet, said: “What’s wrong with goal 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ you don’t want to see part 2.
“Part 2 – 9 players off the pitch.
“Part 3 🤷🏾♂️ now I have posted or moaned about a refs decision in my whole career . But this is borderline cheating and no words can explain it . Actions speak louder than words . Pls make this trending and viral #socceram #cheating #dontrefagain”

This is what social media users had to say as the ex-EFL player fumes at ‘borderline cheating’ as the clip emerges of a controversial goal in the 9th tier match…
@Kozzy78: Wtf happened there??!
@hunt_elliott: @Chriszebroski nail on the head, definitely no foal, plus an offside in the build up to the goal. @Real_HowardWebb officiating in this cou try needs sorting, it’s killing the game.
@davisliam: Wasn’t he offside??? It was a goal kick, it was a free kick? He wasn’t in his own half so must of been miles offside?
@HappyHopperNE: You couldn’t see where he was when the ball was kicked so impossible to tell in that video.
@davisliam: I mean it’s possible he ran from his own half but if he was in the oppo half then he is offside. But the referee has not covered himself in glory here as I cannot hear him whistle for a free kick and he should of gone & taken control of what was happening in the 6 yard area. Poor
@furiouschin: On some fan cam footage you can hear him blow at or just before the ball was put in the net. Agreed, probably should have delayed the free kick. Don’t think Lino’s realised it was a free kick. Worse was it was a relegation 6 pointer and that may well have done for Fleet Town
@jordandavies09: Instinctively I feel uneasy about this goal
@danwhite1987: Probably technically correct to let them take the quick free kick but would have been sensible for the ref not to let that happen. Wasn’t it miles offside too unless he was in his own half when it was played upfield?
@robertmark1976: Perfectly good goal, Ref obviously gives the foul which was heard by a couple of fleet players as you can see them trying to argue with him, not Horley’s fault for taking a quick free kick or the fact that many of the fleet players decided to run off the pitch 🤷🏻♂️
@craigbcharles: Very confusing. The referee isn’t very clear with his signals here to show everyone what decision he has made. Thought it may have been for offside, but no flag and no clear signal for a foul. Looks like he signals a goal has been scored, then allows play to continue 🤷🏻♂️
@StarWarsNerd73: Free kick against the attacker for a foul on the defender. Referee signalled correctly with a blow of the whistle and arm in the correct direction. There’s an argument for management of the game, but the decision is clear
@Craige_SK10: This is wild if so the ref gave a free kick the guy is offside by miles. This is why I can’t with these officials they wonder why I call them useless dinosaurs
@LeighOvo1: Get your head round this mess 😂
@wtshrewisaway: Play to the whistle lads 😬
@SatNavJames: Not sure there is anything right with this goal. No foul in the first place to disallow the one at the other end, the CF is a mile offside, and the lad who scored did so from an offside position.
@DRW85320: Worst thing is this drags Fleet Town well into a relegation battle. 5 points from the drop having played 3 games more than Banstead.
I have never seen a ref decision like this!!!! Gives the goal players celebrate, no whistle, free kick. #Embarrassing @ComCoFL joke! https://t.co/r4JYA6xygA pic.twitter.com/HtMaD8jVgD
