Everton go viral with video of Man City fan after Pep Guardiola’s side have title hopes dented

Everton go viral with a TikTok video of a Man City fan after Pep Guardiola’s side have their title hopes dented following a 3-3 draw.

Jeremy Doku put City ahead just before half time, before Everton then came from behind to go in front with a brace from Thierno Barry and Jake O’Brien’s header making it 3-1 to the Toffees on 81 minutes.

Erling Haaland then sparked a comeback in the closing stages, before Doku levelled in stoppage time, Man City now find themselves trailing the Premier League leaders Arsenal by five points, with game in hand.

As mentioned by Liverpool Echo, the game started and ended with loud boos. Everton fans were heard singing ‘Premier League, corrupt as f***’.

The Everton Twitter admin took issue with City’s third goal, tweeting: “Goal. Doku scores beyond the allocated time.”

They also took to TikTok after the game, captioning their post: “We recognise this Manchester City fan! #everton #mancity #arsenal #premierleague”

Man City manager Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports: “Really good performance. We played outstanding in the first half. Really, really good. Second half, they made a step up and we maybe weren’t as aggressive and after, of course, we gave away the goal. After they came back, they make a proper English game – so aggressive, so, so aggressive in the duels. But in general, we made a really good performance.”

On the first half: “It was more difficult for them to break us down than it was for us to break them down. We were outstanding. We arrived at the byline a lot, shot and had chances and it’s not easy because they play very well defensively, with 10 players behind the ball and then transition with Beto and Dewsbury-Hall. We take the point and until it’s over, we will continue.

On Keane’s challenge on Doku: “…Your pundits can say it.”

On the second half: “In general we were good in our process. We arrived on the left side and Doku was outstanding. Unfortunately we could not capitalise, especially like we did in the first half. Everton away is always difficult.”

Pleased with the fightback? “It’s better than losing, It shows what type of team they are.”

On the title race: “It’s not in our hands. Before it was, now it’s not. We have games left. We will see what happens.”

Pep Guardiola continued, as per BBC Sport’s live blog: “As always, the result is the result. Second half we gave away some balls. We didn’t have that intention to attack a little bit more, but it’s normal. They make a step-up, and they were so incredible in the duels. The British Premier League – we know that.

“In the end, we gave away the first goal, and after the corner that was not a corner. At the end, we showed we would keep going, keep going.”

On Michael Keane’s challenge on Jeremy Doku: “What do you think? It is for the pundits. I know exactly. It is not necessary.

“Listen, I can talk about a lot of points this season. It is not necessary. If you don’t know me after 10 seasons that I am not going to talk about that after what has happened. We take a point.”

On Doku’s goals: “Top goals. The final third is how we create that situation.

“It is top, and it is outstanding. So it is difficult. The game is physical. We were there, we missed the first half to capitalise a little bit better.

“In general, it was a really good game.”

Everton boss David Moyes speaking to Sky Sports: “We let ourselves down because we defended the second goal so poorly. Look, at half-time we would have taken the result because were hugely outplayed in the first half.”

On what he changed at half-time: “I wanted us to get a little bit closer to City. We couldn’t get near them and to be fair, they played really well as well, I have to give them huge credit for that. It was probably the poorest we have played here, certainly against the better teams this season. The players made a great effort to get us in the game and really when we got to 3-1 we should be doing enough to see it out.”

On Barry’s performance from the bench: “He’s had quite a difficult time recently. He came off the bench and got himself a coupe of goals, which is a great thing for any striker and will give him great confidence. I’m really pleased for him.”

On Everton’s Europe hopes: I’m not sure. I think it’s going to be tough. In the last couple of games we’ve lost games late on and today we’ve draw. It could and probably will have an impact on our final position.”

Man City’s Jeremy Doku to Sky Sports: “First half we played well and created a lot of chances. We know if we don’t score those chances it is going to get difficult at the end.

“Obviously, they are at their own stadium, they create chances, and they are dangerous, and they scored two goals, but I think we gave them the game.

“Good that we came back because one point is not bad in games like this.”

On Everton’s deep defensive line: “Difficult because they had players in the box. Whenever we arrive at the byline it is difficult because there is a lot of players there. We scored, then it was more open. Second half we were too sloppy.

“I think we were winning, so they started to press more, and they are more aggressive as well, and then it’s on us to stay calm in those situations.

“We know that one point can be important at the end. Happy to score and happy to help the team.”

On dropping two points: “We will see. It feels painful now. There is still a lot of games to go. We lost two points today. We will keep on fighting – we owe it to ourselves and to our fans.”

Everton’s Thierno Barry said to Sky Sports: “It’s always a pleasure to play against a big team like Manchester City. I’m very happy to come on and score two goals. In the final, we had to settle for a draw so we need to keep pushing because there are three games left.”

On his first goal: “I don’t know really know. I think God gave me this opportunity and I took it. I’m very happy.”

How Everton scored three goals in the second half: “When I was on the bench, I watched the tactics of City and saw high pressures from City, so I knew if we could win the ball back we could counter-attack. I think this is a weakness of City.”

On Everton’s chances of qualifying for Europe: “We need to take it game by game and see where we are at the end of the season.”
