On the half hour mark, Everton had the ball in the net but Beto went too early, seen a few yards ahead of Southampton’s defensive line as a low cross came in from the right, which he tapped past Ramsdale.
The Toffees managed to double their lead, Iliman Ndiaye on the verge of half time, taking advantage of awful defending.
James Garner sent in a hopeful ball forward, with it going between two defenders, Ndiaye was there, fooled Aaron Ramsdale with a dummy and then tapped into an empty net. VAR checked it for offside, but was cleared quickly.
