Eddie Howe has his say on the viral social media mocking of Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall, ridiculed for a number of incidents.
Tindall has been Howe’s loyal lieutenant for the duration of his coaching career, becoming second in command in Bournemouth in January 2009, and he has remained so ever since.
Then he followed him to Burnley before returning to The Cherries to take them to the Premier League as Championship champions in 2014/15.
Now, the 45-year old is back as Howe’s assistant at Newcastle United. The club is on the verge of qualifying for Champions League. His touchline antics have made headlines in recent months.
Tindall was accused of being an “attention-seeker” and was mocked having appeared in the middle of squad photos celebrating a victory post-game.
Gary O’Neil ignored him in February when he attempted to shake his hands before Howe had a chance. Last Sunday, he was seen hugging Mikel Arteta without allowing the boss to have any interaction.
One Twitter user changed his handle in January to Jason Tindall. The focus was on Tindall’s behaviour on matchdays. The account has 33,800 fans. Paddy Power, a well-known social media user, also joined in, posting “Newcastle assistant manager when there is a camera on touchline” and a GIF Donald Trump.
Howe, in his press conference prior to the match against Leeds on Saturday dismissed any suggestion that the behaviour of his no 2 was causing concern.
He even claimed that Tindall was the first to shake hands at the end of the match because of his seat in the dugout.
Speaking on CBS Sports’ Golazo Morning Footy show, Howe said: “That’s interesting and not something we’ve ever talked about really. We’re both very active on the sidelines and I’ve encouraged Jason to be that way.
“We’re very much a partnership and we try to do everything we can to help the players. We’re situated together on the front there and at the end of the game, because he’s usually to my left, he naturally makes his way over.”
Three points at Elland Road will all but guarantee a spot at Europe’s top competition for Newcastle next season, with Leeds themselves desperately needing a result in their battle to beat the drop.
🗣️ “It’s crazy how social media can create these things” 👀

@alfonso_leocad: Bros gonna be acting up for the cameras now
@BaldyMagpie: 😂 WTF been going on, never looked at twitter most of afternoon, come on and timelines full of Jason Tindall tweets #NUFC
@NostalgicNUFC85: Jason Tindall taking the presser and post match interview will absolutely break Twitter. @nufc do your thing

@AdamNUFC_: Mad Dog 🐐
@SteveMallam: Who’s up for a few rounds of “Jason Tindall’s black and white army” then? I’m sure Eddie won’t mind 🤣#NUFC
@ShaunLyall1: This anti Jason Tindall shite is getting out of hand a bit now, obviously opposing fans rattled and trying to cause animosity!! @worflags if you’re not thinking about it already can we have an appreciation flag to show these imbeciles they’ll never break us?!?! #nufc

@JimJones1425: They know exactly what they’re doing with this
@AaronDa51254689: First Nick Pope now Tindall, NUFC Twitter truly is undefeated #NUFC
The funniest thing about all the Mad Dog Tindall stuff is that they think Eddie Howe would be bothered by it.
Maybe learn more about Eddie, their working background and the longevity of it.
There’s a reason Eddie is at the back of all of the team photos.
