Ebbsfleet United have confirmed the decision to sack their manager Danny Searle with an interim named for the upcoming Aldershot Town match.
It comes days after the Fleet came away with nothing at the J.Davison Stadium as Altrincham won 4-0, proving to be Searle’s final game in charge.
Ebbsfleet currently sit bottom of the National League table with only 1 point from 7 games played, 0 wins, 1 draw and 6 defeats, 4 scored and 18 conceded, and four points from safety.

Ebbsfleet United have today relieved first-team manager Danny Searle of his duties with immediate effect.
The Club would like to go on record as recognising the incredible job that Danny achieved last season in saving the club from relegation, after taking over initially as interim manager in February through to that memorable afternoon at Boreham Wood that maintained the Fleet’s National League status.
It is with that very status in mind this season, however, that the decision has been made to part company with Danny after a start to the season which has fallen below expectations. Such a decision is never one that is taken lightly or without due consideration – but it must always be taken with the good of the football club in mind.
The club would also like to thank Assistant Manager Anwar Uddin for his contribution to the club as he departs the Kuflink Stadium with Danny today.
We wish Danny and Anwar every success in their future careers. Both men deserve all our gratitude not only for steering the club clear of relegation last season but for their immense hard work and dedication for the duration of their time at the club.
A management update with be provided later this week whilst in the interim, Josh Wright will lead the team from the dugout in tomorrow evening’s fixture v Aldershot.
Altrincham: Ross, Banks, E Jones (Golden, 73), Cooper, Osborne, Linney (Thompson, 84), Newby (Kosylo 66), Amaluzor (Reddin 69), J Jones, Crawford, Bickerstaff (Humbles 63). Subs: Haygarth, Randle
Ebbsfleet: Cousins, Phillips (O’Neill, 65), Page (Domi 56), Cordner, Dallison, Wright (Thomas 65), Randall (Kellermann 58), Edser, Chapman, Bingham (Fonguck 58), Poleon. Subs: Olagunju, Berry
Attendance: 2,074 (74 away)
He said after the game: “To be honest, I’m a little lost for words. It’s hard at the moment, I would like to say sorry to the supporters who came up.
“When you’re in the position we find ourselves in, things sometimes just don’t go for you. We’re seeing that.
“There were spells where we looked good, but every time Altrincham came forward they looked capable of scoring against us and that’s a concern.
“I don’t think the players aren’t trying, they are, but we find ourselves in a difficult period and we need to get that first win as soon as we can.”
Here’s how fans reacted as Ebbsfleet sack their manager with an interim named for the Aldershot match…
@BerrySzn__: Right choice but wish him all the best
@philreeves08: All the best to Danny. Thanks for the end of last season but I’m sure he’d be the first to say that the start of this season has been nowhere near good enough!
@SteveSpringett_: There’s 3 names in non-league who I feel would turn this clubs fortunes around. Would bring a style of play that’s pleasing on the eye, and most importantly get those wins.
@JamesHuggett123: Bring in luke gerrard
@mrbarnesscience: Thanks Danny and anwar, last season you saved us and the memories from boreham wood will be savoured. But it’s not working this season and something had to change
@Dazza_84: Thankyou @Danny_Searle all the best in your next appointment 👍🏼
@daniel_bowie07: Top manager can’t fault him for the hole he got us out of last season
@fxazyero: Bring in Jay Saunders from Tonbridge Angels! Amazing manager, his team stil unbeaten this season.
@MarkJDeakin: A top bloke. Genuinely top bloke. But clearly not the guy to lead us forwards this season. Good luck at your next club @Danny_Searle 👍 thank you for keeping us up last season.
@harrytalksnl: Loved Danny, we owe him so much after last season but this is the correct decision, wish him nothing but the best 🤝
@ryan_mills15: We want our German back
@FleetDieHard: Not surprised. Sad as it is but that is football. We now have a period of instability but hopefully will provide the right outcome. #utf #eufc #FleetDieHard
@Dazzarogers: The race for the good, available managers starts.
@harrytalksnl: Josh Wright player manager is mental to me, best of luck to Danny and Anwar in their future endeavours, top top men, hopefully we can get a new manager bounce vs Aldershot tomorrow 🤝
@Don_Dagger_: Wonder if we can get Anwar in, in some capacity – you just know it’s Daryl or Garrard
@trevk37: Only last week I thought Searle was under pressure, the 4-0 defeat on Saturday obviously the final straw. Surprised a little it hasn’t worked out after the fine effort last season. Money on Luke Garrard maybe as a replacement………. 🤔
@DB1993: Inevitable call. A nice guy but the situation felt untenable after Saturday – you can’t have a manager coming out and talking about the positives after a 4-0 loss where we didn’t have a shot for 65 minutes.
New manager bounce and Josh Wright as gaffer, what a club statement 😍 https://t.co/G5oFWUokVr pic.twitter.com/SVXzDUZz2n
