Derby’s Curtis Nelson goes viral worldwide after scoring with an UNSTOPPABLE header against QPR on Saturday afternoon.
A corner kick was sent in on the 54th minute, with Nelson rising, perfectly timing his jump, and directed the ball powerfully into the top corner of the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance of saving it.
A minute later, Marcus Harness then made it 2-0 with a fine first-time finish, with the result seeing Derby sitting 12th in the Championship table, with 12 points from 9 games, while Queens Park Rangers are 22nd, in the drop zone, with 7 points from 9 games.
Derby uploaded a video of the goal, and incredibly, on Twitter alone, it’s gone on to get over 17,000 likes and over 6 million views, at the time of writing.
Such moments are not just about the points on the board but about morale, fan engagement, and the narrative around the team’s season. This can galvanise the team and its supporters, creating a positive momentum.
Here it is, from different angles, watch it in all it’s brilliance…

Derby’s Paul Warne, per Sky Sports: “I’m really pleased, we were really good box-to-box in the first half but in the box we were honking, we played a little bit too soft.
“In the second half we were better and created good chances and did enough to win, we were more aggressive on the press and a little bit more positive in the final third.
“We have to be at our very best to beat anybody in this league and at times we have been and still haven’t won, I’m really proud of the group, it’s a great group to manage.
“We’ve been unlucky on a couple of results, we could have had more points but we’ve played some really good teams, there’s a lot to be pleased about.
“Irrelevant of the scorelines, I judge it on the performance, 12 points from the opening gambit isn’t bad but we could have had more out of it, I’m not getting carried away, we’re just a little but unlucky here and there.”
QPR’s Marti Cifuentes: “We didn’t defend the corner well (for the first goal) and we lose the ball immediately after the kick-off in a way that is difficult to understand but we need to accept that.
“It’s not a good performance; I need to help the players to perform at their best. I’m not here to point any fingers, mistakes are part of the game but we can play much better.
“There are some things we need to improve, I’m not happy, no manager in the world would be happy after three defeats (in a row) but there’s a lot of time to improve as a team.
“Now is a moment to stay together – as a club we made certain decisions in the summer in terms of the player profile, many signings arrived from other leagues, the club knew it could take time, it’s my job to make sure it works as soon as possible.
“We need to make sure we’re very clear on the things we must improve (during the international break), I’m very confident we’re going to improve.
“I understand the disappointment (from the fans); it’s right they’re angry at the moment because we lost in a bad performance.”

Twitter users gave their reaction as Derby’s Curtis Nelson goes viral worldwide after scoring with an UNSTOPPABLE header against QPR…
@RamInSweden: This gets better everytime I watch it. Unbelievable to get enough power and accuracy to put it in the top corner from there. The corner doesnāt have that much pace on it either. Donāt see many goal of the season contenders from headers, but this is goal of the season so far imo.
@ForestAreMagico: I mean… Okay, fair enough, that’s a rocket header.
@reecewardd_: Not to be dramatic but this is the best header Iāve ever seen
@Drpunch: No one is stopping that. Proper old fashioned header.
@marcostorre72: If thatās off the foot weād call it a āsweetā connection but you never hear that said from a header. This would be a very good example!
@dcfcstephen: Gets better every time you watch it. Said it before, but Nelson is one of our best signings in the past 10 years. Love him. #dcfc
@RTranterDesign: Thatās one of the most aesthetically pleasing headers Iāve ever seen live
@mixedknuts: The Championship is apparently a league where 15-18 yard headers are scored every week now.
@Yidders: Hell of a player, one of our best freebies in years.
@CW_W10: In all fairness this might be the best header Iāve ever seen live
@jordanpomeroy00: Watched this goal live yesterday. Best header Iāve ever seen. It was like a volley into the top bins š #DCFC
@gcszski: Might be one of the best signings Iāve seen for Derby in terms of value for money. Very underrated as well. #dcfc
@dcfcjw: Weāve conceded some worldies this season and this is right up there with them, unreal header #dcfc #dcfcfans
@GazBainbridge: Pure Roger Thames commentary this
