David Prutton’s midweek Championship score predictions are out as anticipation grows with the season’s end just around the corner.
There is still so much at stake, with teams battling for promotion, a fair few sides still in contention of getting in the playoffs, and the relegation battle is set to be the most tense yet.
The former footballer turned presenter, pundit and commentator is often accurate when it comes to the results, however has found it tougher with the scores. Despite that, put all his guesses into a table and it really isn’t far off the current one. See David Prutton‘s midweek Championship score predictions below…
WEST BROM v FULHAM
He said on Sky Sports’ website: West Brom’s slip at the weekend has opened the door right up for the sides below them, and Fulham may sense a little bit of blood at the weekend.
Scott Parker’s side trail the Baggies by five points, and only a win will do with three games to go. That might make it easier for them to approach the game in a way, and I have a feeling they could take advantage.
SCORE PREDICTION: West Brom 1-2 Fulham, Tuesday 5pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

CARDIFF v DERBY
He said on Sky Sports’ website: Cardiff have lost their last two games, but luckily for them no one below has really stepped up and taken advantage, so it’s still in their hands.
Derby have lost their way at the wrong time, but that’s probably mostly to do with the fact that they’ve faced some really good sides in their last few games. They need a win, but I think this will be a draw.
SCORE PREDICTION: Cardiff 2-2 Derby, Tuesday 7.45pm

LUTON v QPR
He said on Sky Sports’ website: That was a massive win for Luton at Huddersfield on Friday evening, as it puts them within touching distance of climbing out of the bottom three. The end-of-season relegation picture is still a little unclear, but it’s up to Nathan Jones and his side to keep on picking up points.
You would worry about this run of form for QPR were they not safe in mid-table. It feels as though they haven’t really been up for the restart and have put in some really poor performances. Luton will want this more, and they need it more. So I have to back them.
SCORE PREDICTION: Luton 2-0 QPR, Tuesday 7.45pm

BRENTFORD v PRESTON
He said on Sky Sports’ website: Brentford have been brilliant since the restart, and I can’t really praise them enough. They have been relentless in their pursuit of automatic promotion.
Preston are still in with a real shout of reaching the play-offs, but I feel like that challenge may come to an end at Griffin Park. The home side are too good at the minute.
David Prutton’s midweek Championship score predictions for this game: Brentford 2-0 Preston, Wednesday 5pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

BIRMINGHAM v CHARLTON
He said on Sky Sports’ website: Birmingham have the feel of a side sleepwalking into trouble, although they will be delighted there are only a few more games this season as it might just keep them afloat.
Charlton have lost three in a row but they have all been pretty close games. This is one they will have earmarked for a win, and I think they will get it at St Andrew’s.
SCORE PREDICTION: Birmingham 0-1 Charlton, Wednesday 6pm

NOTT’M FOREST v SWANSEA
He said on Sky Sports’ website: Nottingham Forest will have turned half an eye to the play-offs already, but need to make sure they don’t fall asleep completely as the job isn’t quite done yet.
Swansea could move to within three points of Forest with a win, but they will still be gutted with losing so late against Leeds on Sunday. I fancy a home win here.
SCORE PREDICTION: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Swansea, Wednesday 6pm

READING v MIDDLESBROUGH
David Prutton has predicted that it will be a 1-1 draw between these two sides. Mid-table Reading can still reach the playoffs, but their chances are extremely slim.
Middlesbrough have a relegation battle on their hands but recent form since Neil Warnock’s appointment sees them just two points from safety.

WIGAN v HULL
David Prutton has predicted that Wigan, who are in administration, will get a second win on the bounce with a 2-1 victory against Hull. The Latics have the fourth best in the league.
Hull are in trouble with the club in the relegation zone, though with three games remaining, they are just one point from safety.
Wigan will be hoping to pick up as many points in total in order to try and prevent them from going down with a 12 point deduction looming.

MILLWALL v BLACKBURN
David Prutton has predicted that Millwall will come out 2-1 winners as they battled for a playoff place, something they are two points behind.
Blackburn are also in with the chance, though are four points behind Cardiff who occupy the last spot.

SHEFFIELD WED v HUDDERSFIELD
David Prutton has predicted that Huddersfield will pick up a much needed win with just a single goal as they look to climb further away from the danger zone. They are two points from safety.
Sheffield Wednesday sit mid-table, 10 points above the drop and nine from the playoffs with three games remaining. The club could be set for a big points deduction like Wigan, so they will need to get as many points as possible.

BRISTOL CITY v STOKE
David Prutton has predicted that this game will play out to a goalless draw. A win for either side instead would be vital. Bristol City are three points from reaching the playoffs, they have won all their games since Lee Johnson’s sacking.
Stoke are four points above the relegation zone and another three points would be a big boost to their chances of staying up.

LEEDS v BARNSLEY
Marcelo Bielsa’s men could win promotion on Thursday should results go their way, and David Prutton reckons they could do just that with a 2-0 victory. Leeds sit six points clear of third place Brentford.
Barnsley are three points from safety, but their chances of staying up are bleak, with the club also set to play Nottingham Forest and Brentford, eek.
