David Prutton’s Championship predictions have been revealed, and as always, it’s caused plenty of talk with fans on social media.
The former Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Leeds, Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday and England U21 footballer who currently works as a presenter, pundit and commentator has given his thoughts on the outcome of all twelve Championship matches.
After looking at majority of his predictions, it’s found that last season he was mostly accurate and that if you put the scores he’s gone with into a table, it is was similar to the standings. See what he scores he went with below…
Coventry vs Bournemouth
Coventry will be content with their start to life back in the Championship, having picked up four points so far from their three games.
Bournemouth don’t look like there is any real hangover from their relegation, and Jason Tindall has started off well there in the top job. Coventry will give them a good game, but the Cherries should have too much quality.
Prutton predicts: 1-2
Norwich vs Derby
Norwich will be happy to get through this weekend and Deadline Day to see what their squad looks like by the end of it. Until then it is so difficult for Daniel Farke to fully plan for this season.
Derby have had a nightmare start. Three defeats and eight goals conceded. It is up to Phillip Cocu to turn this around, but I can’t see them getting anything at Carrow Road.
Prutton predicts: 3-1
Luton vs Wycombe
Luton would have been disappointed with defeat at Watford last week, but it’s still been a good start for Nathan Jones’ side, and this is a great opportunity for them to bounce back.
You worry for Wycombe with the start they have had. They are punching so far above their weight at this level, and it is hard to see anything but a fourth defeat from four.
Prutton predicts: 2-0
Nott’m Forest vs Bristol City
Where has it all gone wrong for Nottingham Forest? Sabri Lamouchi needs to find a way to get them out of this slump and fast. A goal would help, too.
Bristol City, meanwhile, are flying in the early stages of the season under Dean Holden. Can they continue their perfect record? I have a feeling they will.
Prutton predicts: 0-2
Reading vs Watford
What a start it has been for Reading! Three wins from three under new boss Veljko Paunovic. They look so full of confidence at the minute.
Watford are doing well, too. Despite scoring just twice so far, but they do look solid at the back. They may lose one or two before the window shuts, but still have more than enough to aim high at this level. I reckon this one will be a draw.
Prutton predicts: 2-2
Swansea vs Millwall
So far, so good for Swansea. They have seven points from nine, and are yet to concede this season. They might lack a little firepower and Steve Cooper will likely be hoping to remedy that in the next few days.
Millwall are also unbeaten so far under Gary Rowett. They also maybe look a little goal shy, so there might not be too many in this game. I’ll back a narrow win for the Swans.
Prutton predicts: 1-0
Blackburn vs Cardiff
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 2-0 win for Blackburn.
Rovers currently sit 6th in the Championship table, taking 6 points from 3 games played so far. Cardiff are 16th, taking three from three.
Middlesbrough vs Barnsley
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 2-1 win for Middlesbrough.
Boro currently sit 18th in the Championship table, taking 2 points from 3 games played so far. The Tykes are 20th, taking just the single point from three.
Rotherham vs Huddersfield
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 2-1 win for Rotherham.
The Millers currently sit 14th in the Championship table, taking 4 points from 3 games played so far. The Terriers are 17th, taking three from three.
Sheffield Wed vs QPR
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 1-0 win for Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls currently sit 24th in the Championship table due to their point deduction, though have taken 4 points from 3 games played so far. Same goes for results wise for the R’s who are 11th.
Brentford vs Preston
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 1-1 draw.
The Bees currently sit 10th in the Championship table, taking 4 points from 3 games played so far. The Lilywhites are 19th, taking one from three.
Stoke vs Birmingham
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is a 1-1 draw.
The Potters currently sit 15th in the Championship table, taking 4 points from 3 games played so far. The Blues are 8th, taking five from three.
