David de Gea produces an incredibly embarrassing howler to gift West Ham the opener in Sunday night’s Premier League clash.
David de Gea was once again at fault for Man Utd conceding what will be an important goal, as Said Benrahma somehow scored from far out for the Hammers.
West Ham went ahead with what was their first serious attempt as the ball breaks loose for Said Benrahma who drives at Man Utd’s defence.
Behrahma attempted from outside the box and it looked like it was going to be a routine save for De Gea but the ball somehow rolls over his hands and makes it’s way into the net after the keeper fails to push it clear.
Jermaine Jenas on BT Sport: “It’s an absolute shocker from David de Gea. That’s beyond shocking. His team is in full control of this game and to let one in like that. He’ll know himself.”
Sky Sports’ Joe Shread: “Replays suggest De Gea’s left leg slipped slightly as he went to dive, but that’s still no excuse – Benrahma’s shot was hardly struck with power.
“Ten Hag’s face was a picture… how many more gaffes will he put up with from his goalkeeper?”
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright: “An explosion of celebration inside the ground but what an awful goal to concede from Man Utd’s perspective. Benrahma pounces on Shaw’s error, charges forward unopposed, then it’s a howler from De Gea in goal. He’s got to be stopping that.”
David de Gea will not want to see this one again! 🫣

Rio Ferdinand: “It’s a bad mistake. He will take full responsibility for that.
“His left foot does slip slightly but that’s no excuse, he’s got full contact on the ball. He can get a full hand to the ball, it’s not like he is stretching and getting fingertips on it. He’s got a whole hand on it. He misses it completely and it’s a big, big mistake from him.”
Peter Crouch: “David de Gea has had a shocker, we can’t dress it up.
“David de Gea cant set himself, but even then, if you look at De Gea’s position, he’s back peddling, back peddling and then he cant get on the front foot at all. You cant justify it at all, it’s a terrible mistake.”
Shortly after another bright Manchester United attack led to Antony’s attempt smashing the outside of the post after a slight deflection.
Moments after, there were penalty appeals for West Ham. quite a big call as the ball appeared to hit Lindelof’s arm.
And that is when it became controversial, the first half ended as the referee blows for the break without that penalty appeal being checked.
De Gea’s slip could be crucial in the race for the top four as Ten Hag’s side looked to be struggling to put anything too dangerous going forward apart from that effort hitting the post.
West Ham continuously threatened when going on the break and grew in confidence ever since they took the lead.

Sky Sports’ Nick Wright: “Wow. Man Utd might have got away with one there. The crowd were waiting for a VAR check, instead they got the half-time whistle.”
Sky Sports’ Joe Shread: “I’m not sure why that wasn’t given as handball.
“Lindelof sees the ball coming towards him, moves his arm towards the ball and clearly blocks it.
“VAR had a lengthy look but just allow the game to drift into half-time.
“Another bizarre decision from the Premier League officials.”
Shortly into the second half, West Ham thought they have a second goal after David de Gea was unable to jump for the ball after a challenge by Michail Antonio. Referee Peter Bankes immediately ruled it out for a foul.
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright: “Moyes has his hands on his head. He looks baffled as to why that goal has been disallowed and understandably so. It’s so soft. Man Utd are rocking.”
Sky Sports’ Joe Shread: “Goodness me De Gea…
“It probably is a foul as Antonio puts his arm across the Man Utd goalkeeper, but he’s got to be a bit stronger!
“De Gea throws himself to the turf, allowing Antonio to turn the ball into the net.
“If no free-kick had been given, more questions would have been asked of the Spaniard.”
No penalty in the first half and now a goal ruled out.

West Ham held on for the win, a huge step towards Premier League safety. Man Utd are blowing their chances of finishing in the top four.
This is what fans are saying as David de Gea produces an embarrassing howler to gift West Ham the opener…
@MUFCRazza: Yeah he’s gotta stay, worth 200k a week. I’m sorry but time is up. He needs to leave. I’ve liked the guy a lot but he has to go
@TomLevins1: David de Gea is United’s biggest problem and has been for a number of years but for some reason he gets defended to the hilt by some of their fans.
@ol_corbett: I have never really understood any hype around him. He’s always been inconsistent, and an average keeper at best
@joshhall_1993: Dangerous Dave at it again
@GeorgePitt140:
Seriously, get rid of him now.
Does my fucking head in
@btsportfootball
#GlazersOut #MUFC
@Jordan__8: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 absolute wank
@Ryan1871_: That’s woeful
@alexjxnes: Doubt i’ll ever say a bad word about Ederson again tbh
@AfroNath: Typical United performance away from home. Silly mistakes always leading to goals. Giving the home team easy goals and ways into the game
@Shippers92: £350,000 a week. Unreal.
@Baz_Nufc: Most overrated player of any position in world football there has ever been
@tech_jims: Throwing champs league qualification away at this rate 🙄
@PaulN84: He is a f**king liability!! #mufc #degea
@your_boy_Mack: Jesus Christ De Gea is the softest keeper in the league. Guys made of cotton wool!
@Gideoomatic: Giving De Gea an extension is going to be the beginning of the end for ten Hag and I’ll have no sympathy for him when he costs him his job
@SamPoole2006:
Tonight on You’ve Been Framed:
Slippy fingers from De Gea
@BenNotDom: Add it to the fail compilation 😂😂😂
@theowilsonn: What is he actually trying to do there?
@TheJoeJackson: I’d of saved that 😂
@TurnerJordan1: How many mistakes does this guy want to make 🤣
@buzza1987: De Gea is such a weird keeper, will keep United in games for weeks and then just drops howlers randomly.
