Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirms in his press conference that he won’t be signing a new deal at end of the 2025/26 season.
The decision is said to have been taken in October and has nothing to do with the departure of Marc Guehi.
He also told Steve Parish that he is leaving because he “wants a new challenge” and it is nothing to do with the outcome of the summer transfer window.
Glasner adds that he has spoken to no other club and he will do everything in his power to bring another trophy to Selhurst Park this season.
”We agreed at the time to keep it between us….I told the team today the same”

He also said that a “deal is in the final stages” for captain Marc Guehi to leave the club, confirming that he would not be part of the squad that travels to Sunderland on Saturday.
The club will sell also Jean-Philippe Mateta if the price is right and it is what Mateta wants.
He said: “A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve [Parish] in October, the international break.
“We had a very long talk, and I told him I will not sign a new contract.
“We agreed at the time it was the best to keep it between us. It’s the best that we could do that and keep it confidential for three months.
“But now it’s important to have clarity, and we had a very busy schedule so that’s why we didn’t want to talk about it. Steve and I want the best for Crystal Palace.”
Glasner would not be drawn on the exact reasoning behind his departure beyond saying he had told Parish he wanted to take on a “new challenge” away from Selhurst Park.
“I told Steve I’m just looking for a new challenge. I told him in October, it’s nothing to do with the transfer window. I hate if something is written or said that is not true, and it was very tough for me not to respond. We have a great relationship, and we’re always talking about what is best for Crystal Palace.
“I haven’t spoken to any other club, I told the players that and promised them today I will give my best to give the best season in Crystal Palace history. We are now four points better off than we were at this stage of the season and we will do everything to bring another trophy back to Selhurst Park.
“We had the Conference League draw today, we will play Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia in the play-off draw and I had a look at the draw tree, it’ll be quite interesting who we could play in our section.
“I will do everything to help bring a trophy back to Selhurst Park.”
”I wish him all the best for the rest of his career, he will have a great career I think”

On the current situation regarding Marc Guehi: “Latest understanding, the deal with Marc is in the final stages. We can’t confirm, but it is not done. The result is Marc doesn’t play tomorrow for us.
“When the players want to move on a deal will happen. It looks like it has happened now.
“Everyone wanted Marc [Guehi] to stay forever. I talked to him, of course, it stays between us. Marc shown it in the summer transfer window, shown it the whole autumn that he was 100% committed to the team and to Crystal Palace.
“I wish him all the best for the rest of his career. He is still at the beginning of his great career. He is a fantastic guy.”
On players’ reaction to Marc Guehi leaving: “It was for all of us us surprising. We had a meeting as normal – players little surprised.
“I told them we sold Michael Olise and it was the best season in Palace season.
“We lost Eze and we are right now four points better than last year. We could always cope with the situation and we will show. It is up to us to show we can cope with this situation, again.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirms he won’t be signing a new deal at the end of the season…
@TheSteveEvans: Hang your head in shame Steve Parish. Your failings to back the most successful manager in our history, at a point in the most successful time as a football club, is mind-blowingly abysmal. Utter, utter failure of epic proportions. #CPFC
@FantasyEagles:
Shit day as a Palace fan
Glasner leaving
Guehi gone
Mateta on his way out
Wharton and Munoz gone in the summer
We enjoyed it while it lasted! #cpfc
@RedAndBlueDave: He bought us trophies I’ll never forget that but this just feels like it was his plan all along to come to palace and put himself in the shop window #cpfc haven’t got a bad word about him it’s just football but let’s add one more trophy before he leaves #cpfc
@Charlie_Ing94: Am I the only person who is optimistic from today’s news? Clarity now in the club. We’ve not financially lost from a player who has begun to look like he’s doing the bare minimum. Time to make the right decisions and to invest in the right areas of the club. #cpfc
@GilesyL14: I’ve no anger towards Glasner. Throughout his tenure, the club have never matched his ambition. Every window has never been good enough. I don’t blame him for wanting out. & IMO, we’ll live to regret it. Our greatest ever manager & gave us a day we could have only dreamt of #cpfc
@rossbart97: May 17th 2025 we win the FA Cup. Wind forward 8 months have we have self destructed. Wasted summer, failed transfer windows, captain left for pennies, manager leaving. 8 months of fuck ups, and 1 common denominator. #cpfc
@JM4945194824917: I can’t actually be arsed @CEO4TAG will spend the whole summer window fucking around we won’t get a manager until last minute so again we won’t have a proper preseason and summer window what’s the fucking point #cpfc
@VTCPFCFanClub: Well that is both the absolute worst presser we’ve ever had as a club….and it’s still such a nice way to see why Oliver Glasner is such a positive guy. Parish has a shitstorm on his hands if this all (looking more likely) turns to shit #cpfc
@adamvictorking: Where do we go from here? Morale at rock bottom, no team spirit, Managers off, Captain is off. How do we bring in any players on the knowledge that the Manager is off at the end of the season! Maybe @CEO4TAG will surprise us an have a plan. #cpfc
@liamb0117: I didn’t think we’d be able to top being the worst cupset in FA Cup history for ‘worst day in recent memory’ but then we lost our best ever manager and best ever defender/club captain/current best player in the space of 10 minutes #CPFC
Them: I’ve just seen the news! How are you? Are you alright?!
