Crawley ‘sweeper keeper’ Corey Addai rescues a crazy back-pass from his fellow teammate with an outrageous touch in the 3-0 win over MK Dons.
The League Two playoff semi-final first leg between Crawley Town and MK Dons was played on Tuesday night after it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch the day before.
Goals from Liam Kelly, Jay Williams and Ronan Darcy helped Scott Lindsey’s Crawley establish commanding lead in the tie, with their keeper Corey Addai going viral.
Liam Kelly scored his fifth goal of the season to give his team a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes of the match.
Crawley’s Will Wright produced a goal-line clearance less than two minutes before Crawley took the lead.
Then shortly after that, Liam Kelly unintentionally sent the ball towards his own goal, leaving his goalkeeper scrambling to prevent it from going in.
Fortunately, Addai reacted quickly and rushed back towards the goal line, and saved his teammate from embarrassment, as you can see below…

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, player of the match Liam Kelly smiled and said: “Luckily the big man in goal got me out of it.”
Crawley manager Scott Lindsey told Sky Sports:
“It’s two halves of football over 90 minutes, rather than two lots of 45 minutes. We felt we wanted to attack this game aggressively, which we did.
“I’m really pleased with the goals. The first goal was a really good team goal where we played a really good passage of play; the second was a set piece, which we work really hard on, and the third goal was another passage of play where we played some real intricate passes around the edge of the box before Darcy got in. I’m pleased with the goals and the way we played as well.
“I’ll go away tomorrow, watch the game back and see how the land lies with what we’re going to do.”
Lindsey told BBC Radio Surrey:
“I’m really pleased with the outcome of the game. We scored some really good goals and played really well.
“But it is only half-time, so we have to be humble and respectful of them. They’re a really good side.
“Potentially we could have maybe scored more, but we don’t want to be too greedy. We’ll take the 3-0 and get ready for another tough game on Saturday.
“I can’t praise the players enough. I’ve created a real culture here that everyone’s with each other. We’ve got a really good team spirit and I think you could clearly see that.
“I’m proud of the players. They’ve been class. But we’re at the halfway point and there’s no room for celebration.”
MK Dons head coach Mike Williamson told Sky Sports:
“We weren’t good enough tonight. It wasn’t us and now we need to make sure we make a decision to react. It’s half-time and I don’t think it’s over.
“Moments can change games, but we just weren’t good enough. We’ve got to assess ourselves and we always do that. We missed a couple of chances and then, directly after, we conceded goals.
“It was a really difficult evening for our boys and one that we need to use for our character and understanding. We’ll brush ourselves down and we’ll make sure we are better.”
Williamson told BBC 3CR:
“The disappointing thing is that we didn’t look anything like us. We’ve got to make sure we assess that and put it right.
“We’ve got to make sure that we dust ourselves down now and keep our heads. We’ve got all the belief that we’ve got more than enough to overturn this.
“Everything is reversible. We know we’ve got a mountain to climb, but we feel we’ve got a group of lads that are able to achieve that.
“We know that we’ll turn up on Saturday and we’ll empty the tank and give everything. We’ve got to make sure that if we do go down we go down looking like us and exhausting every avenue.”
Crawley and MK Dons face off again in the second leg at Stadium MK on Saturday the 11th of May, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm.
The winning team will progress to the League Two playoff final, with the final against either Doncaster or Crewe scheduled to take place at Wembley on Sunday the 19th of May.

5 minutes into Crawley-MK Dons.
Corey Addai has twice carried the ball to almost the half-way line.
Michael Kelly has very nearly assisted a Max Dean goal.
Liam Kelly’s struck Crawley in front.Delighted to say this is hitting my expected standards early.
