Coventry City have been handed an eviction notice by the new owners of the Coventry Building Society Arena say reports on Monday.
Former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group took over the stadium in November 2022 after buying its three former operating companies and say the Championship club has no continuing right to use the ground.
Club officials had been informed on Friday last week that they must hand over keys and access cards and an FA Youth Cup game on Saturday was also switched to Leamington.

BBC journalist Simon Gilbert said via his Twitter account: “The club received the notice on Friday with Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has informed the club they must leave the stadium – claiming the licence agreement agreed with previous owners Wasps does not legally bind Frasers. They added the club has no continuing right to use the property.
“Club officials were informed on Friday they must return keys and access cards and that they would be given a reasonable amount of time to remove goods and property owned by the Sky Blues.
“The notice resulted in Coventry City moving their FA Cup Youth game against Southampton, scheduled for Saturday, to Leamington’s ground.
“BUT – and this is a big but… the club will be working hard to resolve the situation. All hope is not yet lost.”

@TheSmorginator: Mike Ashley making friends early doors
@garrie_coleman: Eh? You fckn what? #pusb
@JamesLawrie18_: Quite funny how the two most vocal clubs about wanting Derby to die are now both in the mud😂
@NickLeekMedia: Never ending saga I swear 😫
@lsull_: Is there any tactics to this? Finally backing sisu into the corner? Hoffman on the board at the cbs now too? Too many questions
@wayneogreeny: WTF 😳
@James94Cov: I’m sure we’re in a channel 5 remake of dream team. Name me another club that has this much drama. When people question why we aren’t getting more fans in, I’ll point to crap like this
@Ledscov: I’m guessing it’s get out or give me the club. Ffs never a normal day being a Cov fan.
@DavenportMick: We’re well and truly screwed 😡😡 how have the council let this happen!!! Yet again it’s the fans that suffer 😔 Ashley you’re a C**T RIP @Coventry_City
@Ash_Bradders: Mike Ashley and @coventrycc wanking each other off as per usual. Absolute scumbags. Has there ever been a Council actively try and fuck over a local sports team so much in the country???
@JakeMasters91: RIP Coventry 🤕
@M_cliffy: So predictable… how could no one see this coming. Pathetic @Coventry_City points deduction and players out the door. Here we go. Ashley wants the football club and was always doing this to get it. Bored now. Time to refund my ST. Thanks x
@JackMccullaghhh: Mike Ashley is a fucking parasite, he needs barring from any sports related business
@SeanCobley_: Another day in the life of a Cov fan #PUSB
@jamiewillby: Mike Ashley doing Mike Ashley things.
@PaulH3lli0n: Once again our club gets absolutely screwed. So, scramble together a ground share? What happens if we can’t fulfil fixtures?
@susiebluesky: WTAF?
@Markclaret1: Don’t understand why the football club didn’t buy it
@JasonG84Gaffa: Unbelievable, WTF is going on #pusb
@AndySlaughter: Mike Ashley for you “preferred bidder”
@bobmaxfield: Oh come on!! So sick and tired of this, no matter how hard the manager and team work they are screwed over by shady business people.
@Seedhouse__: CALL IT OFF
@tomreedwriting: One of the first jobs of an Independent Regulator for football needs to be to look at the sport’s relationship to land & the protection of stadia. Cov got rid of a good ground in Highfield Road, to be left in this mess. It’s not right and I feel for the fans. #pusb #ccfc
@Jimi_Dyer: Jesus Christ. When will it end
@Jaymokid: So fucking sick to death of all of this. When will the council undergo a proper investigation? As free holders How the fucking fuck have they allowed this to happen. Fucking raging. #pusb
dawkinscov1980: 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ like the slowest train crash of all time. Just a disgrace on so many levels. There are a few people that should hang their heads in shame here #PUSB
@mattjohns01: Supporting a football club should not be this difficult. At least our first match back is away – gives us a bit more time to sort something out before the Swansea game on the 17th. #PUSB
@lydiaxturner: Looks like I’ll be adding another ‘home’ ground to the list… one normal day as a cov fan is all I ask for #PUSB
@andymee358: Just one fucking day supporting a normal football club. That’s all I ask 🤦🏻♂️
@RobGyde: When is this going to stop! 😡
@2022benclay: Shit show continues 🤣🤣😭😭 #pusb
@The__Farmster: I really feel for #CCFC fans. It was obvious Mike Ashley was going to do something like this from the moment this arrangement happened.
@WAFCJoe2: Can’t wait for this to be relocated to Nuneaton now
@LiamK1998_: This is why I’m glad he didn’t buy Derby
@Tommyboy119: Suspect this gets resolved albeit with us paying higher rent/lower access to revenue etc. Was always going to be way with Ashley which was why so bizarre fans clambering for him without club. #ccfc #pusb
