Classic football matches on TV this weekend

Time to once again take a look and find out which classic football matches are on TV this weekend as we wait for the season to resume.

BT Sport, Sky Sports and the BBC are reworking their schedules to keep people entertained by showing some of the greatest ever matches, re-runs of past cup finals, derbies and games from the playoffs.

On Saturday at 1:15pm, they will show a full replay of one of the most memorable games from Euro 96 – featuring one of the tournament’s most iconic goals – as England faced Scotland at Wembley.

A classic rivalry, a classic goal, a classic match.

Then at 10:20pm on the same day and channel, it’s the last of the MOTD podcasts, as Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright look at the top ten international moments.

On Sunday at 1:50pm, the BBC relive Wales’s clash with Slovakia at Euro 2016, their first ever game at a European Championship finals and their first at a major championship since 1958.

Same day and channel, but at 10:30pm, is a documentary in which Alan Shearer looks back at Euro 96, being the Golden Boot winner and reflects on the competition with old teammates and manager Terry Venables.

Channel 4 will be televising the classic 1966 World Cup final between England and West Germany on Sunday at 1:30pm.
