Chris Long taunts Mark Hughes in a confrontation at full time after scoring a late winner for Crewe Alexandra against Bradford City.
Bradford’s hopes of automatic promotion were ended after Crewe’s dramatic 3-2 defeat in stoppage time.
In order to have any chance of finishing in the top three in League Two, they needed a win. They came back from a half time 2-0 deficit thanks to goals by Andy Cook and Jamie Walker.
But couldn’t find a winner, and instead conceded a penalty in added time that Chris Long converted.
And it was the Long who seemingly taunted Mark Hughes after the final whistle, with the duo having to be separated as can be seen in the video below…
What a prick Chris Long is!!!! Hodges and Hughes are not the types to back down. Oh and we can still go up! #child #bcafc #bradford pic.twitter.com/iiN3Ga1QNH

The Bantams will now go into the final day, still in need of a point for a mathematically secured play-off position.
Crewe were 2-0 up at half time thanks to Dan Agyei’s double.
In the 16th minute, he ran down the left side and fired a shot at Harry Lewis’ near post.
Bradford were again caught on the counter-attack two minutes before the break, when Long set up Agyei to tap in.
Cook scored his 28th league goal of the season after heading in Richie Smallwood’s corner. He then set up Walker, who got the equaliser in 54th minute.
Tom Booth, the goalkeeper, made a spectacular save to prevent Scott Banks from hitting the top corner. Mark Hughes’ team was pushing to complete the comeback, but Smallwood was punished for a trip in the 9th minute stoppage time on Alex’s substitute David Amoo, and Long held his nerve to score and relished in the moment.
Mark Hughes shared the disappointment in the dressing room, saying as per the club website: “We did not have the control we would have liked.
“It became an end-to-end game and we were always at risk of losing the point we had worked for.
“There were consecutive errors that were a result of a lack of control, and that led to the goals.
“We have to learn from that. It is a difficult one to take.
“We have felt disappointment like this before, but we have to bounce back. We will go again.
“There is a huge game coming up, and we will be ready.
“Emotionally, it is a hard one to take, but we will be ready to go again.
“Ideally, we would have liked, at the very least, to have the play-offs secured,” Hughes added.
“The aim was to go into the final day with automatic promotion still a possibility, but we still have everything to play for.
“We are grateful that there is still an opportunity to get promoted.
“The game is of huge significance for the club.
“I fully expected reactions from all the players the last time we have experienced moments like this, and I fully expect one again.”

“We keep on getting hurt by them,” admitted Hughes, as per Telegraph & Argus. “We’ve taken it to the last day, we probably always felt that was going to happen anyway.
“That’s the reality now and we can get our heads round that and make sure we take that final step against Leyton Orient.
“We’ve got a job to do. We came very close to doing that at Crewe in difficult circumstances.
“Going 2-0 down, we’ve shown resilience and character to come back, so that’s pleasing.
“But then the game deteriorated and became end to end with lots of transitions and changes of possession.
“It became a game that I didn’t want us to be involved in. I’d rather see us getting the ball down and pass and move.
“But it was difficult because the pitch was not the best.
“It didn’t help our confidence in terms of getting the ball down and playing. It ended up playing the type of football they wanted to play more than we did.
“Once teams have lost a 2-0 lead, they are the home side, they’ve got the home crowd behind them and there is an expectation that there’s going to be a reaction.
“The game just started to be end to end and there wasn’t a lot of control from either team.”
Hughes said of the incident with Chris Long: “The lad seemed to want to make a point and say hello. He got in my face .
“I wasn’t quite sure who he was, if I’m honest, so you’ll have to enlighten me.
“He seemed to want to put his face in my face and I didn’t appreciate that so, in the end, he went away.”
🗣️ “We know exactly what we have to do. It’s down to us.”
Bradford City manager Mark Hughes remains confident his side will secure their play-off spot in Monday’s final game of the season despite their 3-2 loss at Crewe.

Crewe boss Lee Bell said: “It was a really good game of football, and we gave a really good account of ourselves – it was important we did that for the other teams in the league.
“The boys were magnificent and put some good football together. We didn’t withstand everything they threw at us, but nearly did.
“Dan has run himself into the ground again, he’s been magnificent this season, and I’m delighted for Longy to get another goal.
“Full credit to the players, we spoke about how we wanted to finish off at home on a high. I thought we’d be the better footballing team, and we were able to show that.
“We want to make this place difficult for teams to come to, and we have to develop all different types of ways to get results. This little run is a great achievement at the end of the season.

@utdwill3: i love chris long #CreweAlex
@ben33249452: Think Hughes also acted like a child tbf. Think he has bigger problems to worry about as you needed help from really poor defending and a keeper making his 3rd pro start to mid judge a cross to score. No need from either party but just blaming long is pathetic.
@Dan__CAFC: Go on Longy lad #CreweAlex
@JackTWilson95: Shit house Hughes
@dannym97: I’d do the same thing in his situation. Fair play. Brought it on ourselves
@Upton_Blues: Love a good shithouse. Lol

@NatVanChudleigh: All I see is Mark Hughes being a c**t as per usual. No doubt will blame anything and everything but himself for the defeat as he has spent his entire managerial career doing. The utter prick.
@jackbuchanan1: Hahahaha into em Chrissy
@KeithWildman: To be fair, it’s probably the closest he’s ever going to get to someone who’s achieved something in football whoever he is. So he just wanted a moment of reflected fame. #bcafc
@a_cheevers6: Fair play to the lad, he’s fully mocking it 😭😭
@jesusismynann: Phahahah go on longy lad
