Chris Kamara announces surprise commentary comeback and will reunite with Jeff Stelling

Chris Kamara announces a surprise comeback commentary and will reunite with Jeff Stelling, announcing the news on Twitter.

Kammy will return to our screens on Boxing Day to cover the Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur for Amazon Prime Video.

This reunion with his long-time colleague Jeff Stelling comes after Kamara stepped away from his role at Sky Sports in 2022 following a health battle with apraxia of speech due to an underactive thyroid which he was diagnosed with in 2021.

@chris_kammy wrote: “Best phone call ever this afternoon 👏🏼 inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day 🥳 reporting back to the Unbelievable @JeffStelling in the studio. I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you 🙏🏾 Amazon 🤩 @primevideosport. “I’m back” 👌🏽

Jeff Stelling replied: “And I am looking forward to it as much as you mate. There’s a goal at the City ground but for who Chris Kamara?……”

Chris Kamara said: “Love ya mate, Andrew (Buzz) Hornet 🐝 rang me 🥳 and I just said “Id love to work with you again on football” totally unexpected ❤️”

His voice is improving after having treatment in Mexico, and while he’s still yet to get back to full health, he’s on the road to recovery.

Kamara spoke in an interview this summer, giving an update: “I’ve been there twice now [Mexico]. I’m going back for a third time.

“I’ve got the fluency in my speech. The only thing I haven’t got is the speed of old, I know I talk 300 miles an hour before, but I’d like that back if I can.

“So I’m going back for more treatment.”

@BarryQuirke: Absolutely brilliant delighted to hear this and you deserve it. Two of the best back together again.

@a_cooper17: I still remember from about 1996 or sometime late 90’s when Forest scored in the game you were reporting on – I have a feeling it was against Boro, and Jeff went to you and you just screamed “AND WHAT A MAGNIFICENT GOAL!!”. I’ve never been able to find it anywhere but I remember it weekly. Can you or @JeffStelling remember it? It was brilliant. 👏🏼

@1972_rickyb: Excellent news, soccer Sat is a shadow of its former self. One of the simplest yet greatest concepts with 5 mates watching footy was completely ruined by some exec no mark who thought he knew best. Welcome back Kammy, it will be our pleasure.

@realaled: Congrats mate x

@Robin_Askwith: Great great news…..

@markbol1972: This will be the most watched program on Boxing Day now
