Chris Eubank Jr asked to sign Newcastle fan’s microwave whilst getting mobbed

Chris Eubank Jr has gone viral this week after he was asked to sign a Newcastle fan’s microwave whilst getting mobbed in the city.

The boxing star is no doubt used to signing his autograph throughout his career, however the item on which he had to write on for this occasion was possibly it’s most random yet!

Eubank Jr arrived in the North East for the much anticipated fight with Wanik Awdijan on Saturday night, and on Friday evening, he was bizarrely mobbed by a number of Geordies outside St James’ Park.

In a video going viral on social media, a number of people in Newcastle city centre are seen wanting photos with the fighter, and then out of nowhere, one keen fan approaches Eubank Jnr with a microwave, with another asking for a signing on his hand.

The boxer posted via his Twitter account giving a comical response to his latest meet and greet, noting the man in question for getting out his kitchen appliance for the signing.

Eubank Jr tweeted: “Only in Newcastle will you find such dedication & resourcefulness.

“The balls this kid must have to walk around the town centre on a Thursday night ALONE with only a microwave to watch his back, deserves a medal for bravery.”

“He just popped over armed with a microwave and said ‘Chris, please sign it for, I haven’t got anything else,’” he explained to talkSPORT.

“There were just so many questions running through my head like where did you get it from,” he added.

It came just hours after the 26-year-old addressed the world’s press at the pre-fight press conference ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Awdijan, and the pair shared a heated exchange during their media duties.

The Englishman kicked off with a jibe, slamming his upcoming opponent for having ‘so much to say’ over social media ahead of the fight.

He said: “I’m disappointed in this man here because he had so much to say online. So much heat and energy came from his social media over the last few weeks.

“Now? I see a man who doesn’t have the same fire, I was hoping to hear some nasty things today.”

However the German fighter retaliated at Eubank Jr quick and accused him of previously avoiding a bout and replied: “Just wait… Why didn’t you fight me the first time?

Eubank Jr responded: “Because you were overweight.”

The heated exchange continued between the duo, especially after Eubank confirmed he had only needed four weeks to prepare for the fight in Newcastle.

Awdijan hastily replied to Eubank’s claim: “Four weeks? I got told you had been preparing for months. I had this fight on week’s notice. You were pulling out for three kilos.”

@KialePadgett: Great to see interaction with the fans like this!! Good luck this weekend!! Looking forward to the fight night. 🥊

@Birchy1788: Nowhere else in the world do you get someone getting their microwave signed in the middle of a road by a celebrity. Not sure if thats something to celebrate or something we should be worried about 🤣🤣

@CHope1993: Maddest thing about this is that it looks like an opportunistic microwave signing. Just rolling up the street with it, gets it signed and walks straight off. Best place in the world

@NeilRodgers12: You know the 2 knackers who got their hands signed are getting them tattooed tomorrow 🤣🤣

@Elmo_1612: That’s hilarious. Proper got me that 😂😂😂

@chrisfrance_: Bloody love the Geordies, never been any good at understanding the accent but you can tell it’s pretty much always positivity they’re spreading.

@jlund76: Bringing my kettle next time. 😁

@johnderlei: I saw your dad fight at Whitley Bay ice rink in the 90’s. Us Geordies love the Eubank’s.

@Footystreems1: Great to see this, spend time with your fans even 10 mins means a lot to them. Respect for this. Never ignore your fans.

@CrAwFiShBoiLa: If your fight shorts aren’t sponsored by Russell Hobbs or Panasonic on Saturday I’ll be devastated!
