Cheltenham Town boss Darrell Clarke has been left bewildered by an offside decision in the 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters picked up all three points with striker Victor Adeboyejo getting his 8th goal of the season to get his back on to winning ways having lost last time out when they played Leyton Orient at the weekend.
George Lloyd thought he had cancelled out Bolton’s opener nine minutes into the second half, having the ball in the back of the net but referee Ben Speedie gave offside. He consulted with assistant referee Joe Simpson and the decision was upheld.
Cheltenham boss Darrell Clarke was also booked after another decision went against his team.
Christ we’ve got away with murder there.

Darrell Clarke said, as per Bolton News: “It was a good performance, we had chances and opportunities. I need to go and ask the ref and the linesman why they have disallowed the goal.
“It is not offside and I am still bewildered by it, to be honest. It is not the first time, he killed me on a decision last year when I was Port Vale manager at Accrington where we score a goal and he decides to give a penalty. I don’t know.
“It is these things, when you are coming to a top team like Bolton, you need the rub of the green to start off with and for me, my boys certainly deserved a bit of that tonight, but it wasn’t to be.”
Clarke adds: “I think the stats will all show in our favour and to come against a team I think is going to be in the top two come the end of the season, to put on that performance, we should get more but we didn’t.
“We have to regroup, go away, analyse the good and the bad, and try to get three points at Derby.”

Bolton boss Ian Evatt said: “It wasn’t a classic. I don’t think many people will remember any of that performance at the end of the season but they will remember the three points and that’s what was crucial tonight.
“It was a really important three points that gets us back on track, still over two points per game and we’ve made ground in our games on the others.
“Great credit to Cheltenham. They were really fresh and really energetic and put us under pressure in the conditions. We scrapped, battled and fought without being our usual fluid selves but this league is tough really tough. You’ve just got to look at results elsewhere.
“It’s a hard league and sometimes you just have to find a way to win and we did that tonight. It was pretty ugly and we know we can be better than that but the important thing is the three points.”
“That would do them the world of good,” added the Wanderers’ boss, who also praised the decision of referee Benjamin Speedie to rule out a potential Cheltenham equaliser when he ruled that some of Town’s ‘blockers’ were in an off-side position to allow George Lloyd to put the all in the net.
“We have just got to relax and believe in ourselves. I have said before we need to stay together as a club and the players need the fans more than ever.
“In the second half they picked us up a little bit and we need them to pick us up because sometimes it’s going to be tough and it’s going to be hard and we’re going to have to fight our way through it.
“Sometimes we’re going to play well and win but it’s the ones where you need to roll up your sleeves when you need that 12th man and we need the fan-base and support to get behind us.”
🗣️ “We know we can be better, but the all-important thing tonight is the three points.”

Right so listening to Evatt post match, it’s been given because the number 11 (who when you look at the reverse angle, appears they could be offside, blocks our defenders path to attack the ball….hence offside.
Maybe we’ve witnessed a very, very good decision…?! #bwfc https://t.co/NqOYrbOhHg pic.twitter.com/J7JoKcii9z

This is how fans reacted with the Cheltenham boss Darrell Clarke left bewildered by an offside decision in defeat at Bolton…
@Riccoshire1999: Lloyd not offside, others were
@chxrlie67: lino should get the sack, embarrassing decision
@POMPEYSWB: Watching this on ifollow and that’s one of the worst decisions I’ve seen in league one, he’s given offside to a bloke who’s run on to his own shot 😂 Bolton getting away with it at the moment
@PaulMit59: Lloyd was onside , others may have been in an offside position but didn’t come into play , shocking decision
@IronRyan96: That was onside surely
@Simonbeardsell3: How can that be offside ??
@IanMass05261670: Our defending from set pieces is genuinely terrifying
@jkecrx: Worst set of officials to ever be at the ground ever those three. Lucky +3 for us. Linesman barely flagged for any fouls in front of him
@disco_shippers: Wow, that could be so vital come the end of the season. #ctfc
@EthanClements84: Another blunder from the officials? Cheltenham are very hard done by at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. #ctfc #EFL
@RobGraceComedy: The luck of being at the top of the league compared with being at the bottom… More evidence that the standard of officiating in League One is pretty f**king awful. #ctfc
@Adam_Beard14: This is disgusting 😡
@HarrisonS_CTFC: Classic EFL officials
@JoeWood_7: League 1 🤝 atrocious refereeing
@Fazzer1411: if they pip us to autos by two points because of this i will jump off a bridge
@MickHarrison85: Hi @EFL me again!! How have we got away with this?? Shocking officials AGAIN!! please sort this crap out
@markyt86: Absolutely shocking @EFL it’s not even close!
@gregnewcombe: You’d be asking questions if this was a parent running the line for your local U12s let alone at League One level
@drac_uk: The officials seemed to guess most decisions tonight. How on earth we won that I’ll never know
@NigelGroom: I’m at a point of acceptance with the awful officiating all across the lower leagues. It’s so shit for everyone that at the end the poor decisions for and against seem to balance out. You probably should have had a pen too.
@GJMinett: Have just seen the replay on Tv and it’s a SHOCKING decision. Lloyd was a yard onside and played on by at least three Bolton players when the free kick was taken. Typical home decision for the bigger club. It wasn’t even close
@odenson98: Never offside. These officials are disgraceful. Missed a blatant penalty for us and then that
@JDavis_7: Few yards onside.
@Txddie_ctfc: Absolutely no chance thats off embarrassing from the lino #ctfc
@JackSmout1: Lloyd miles onside and follows in on his own header, awful decision
