Cardiff manager’s job between these two candidates with decision imminent

Cardiff City have narrowed down the candidates for Neil Warnock’s successor to Neil Harris and Lee Bowyer, according to WalesOnline.

The have picked two from a longlist of candidates and even revealed they are hoping to appoint Warnock’s replacement within the next 72 hours.

THE CURRENT ODDS:

Neil Harris – 13/8
Michael Flynn – 3/1
Sol Bamba – 3/1
Lee Bowyer – 7/1
Craig Bellamy – 8/1
Aitor Karanka – 16/1
Tony Pulis – 16/1

Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman revealed that owner Vincent Tan will have more on the approach for this appointment, with the club seeking a younger, more offensive style of manager.

He said: “We want a manager that can have 35 shots in every game,” Dalman told BBC Radio Wales.

“I think (the owner) Vincent Tan wants to take a more hands-on involvement with the next manager with I think is right, after all he’s the owner of the club. I think he wants someone younger with a more offensive type of manager.

“The process is ongoing on at the moment, we’re down to a very small number of names.

“I’ll be very surprised if we don’t announce something within the next 72 hours, certainly by the weekend.”

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said: “Neil Warnock’s surprising departure from Cardiff City has opened up an enticing managerial vacancy in the Championship.

“While there will be no shortage of suitors, the Bluebirds may be inclined to appoint a new gaffer internally.

“With over 100 league appearances for the club, Sol Bamba certainly knows the place inside-out, and would doubtless be a cheaper option than the likes of Tony Pulis or Chris Hughton.”

As of 2pm Tuesday, it’s reported that Cardiff have yet to make contact with Charlton boss Lee Bowyer.

Cardiff City would also welcome the implementation of a director of football following Neil Warnock’s departure, chairman Mehmet Dalman has said.

The Welsh club currently sit 14th in the Championship table, seven points off the play-off spots.
