Carabao Cup Semi Final Draw in full live

The much anticipated draw for the semi final of the Carabao Cup took place on Wednesday night as the final-four ties are confirmed.

In Tuesday’s first quarter-final fixture, Newcastle ended up being beaten 1-0 by Championship side Brentford who reach their first major semi final, and then Manchester City thrashed Arsenal 4-1 in the later game, both televised on Sky Sports.

Thomas Frank’s side, who have now eliminated four top-flight teams from the tournament this season, and Man City will be joined in the semi-final draw by the victors from Wednesday’s quarter-finals, which saw Stoke lose 3-1 against Tottenham whilst Everton v Manchester United is still in play.

Tottenham’s last trophy came in this competition way back in 2008, while Man Utd went all the way in 2017. Holders Man City, meanwhile, won the last three editions of the tournament and eye up a fourth in a row.

The semi-finals are set to take place in early January, however the grand final was this week delayed from late February until the end of April due to a hope that it can host as many supporters as possible to Wembley Stadium amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

An EFL statement read: “This season’s Carabao Cup Final has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday 25 April 2021, with a 4pm kick-off.

“It is the objective of the League to stage the Final with as many supporters in attendance as possible and the decision has therefore been taken to move the Final from its original date of Sunday 28 February 2021 to later in the year.

“The number of fans permitted will be dependent on Government guidance in place at the time and it is hoped that moving the date to later in the year will give Clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person.”
