Cambridge United appoint 12-season Premier League player turned assistant head coach Jason Euell to help out manager Garry Monk.
Euell began working on his coaching badge in June 2011, while a player at Charlton, before taking charge of the club’s U21 squad for the first time in September 2013.
He was credited for promoting youngsters to the first team, such as, Joe Gomez, Ademola Lookman, Jordan Cousins and Joe Aribo.
In October 2015, he was appointed temporary as club’s first-team coaching staff after Guy Luzo was sackedn. Then upon the return of Jose Riga, Euell went back to take charge the club’s under 21 squad after failing to agree a deal to stay on as a first team coach in February 2016.
At the beginning of September 2019, Euell became a coach for England U20s as part of The Football Association’s 2019β20 Elite Coach Placement Programme.
Then in April 2021, he was promoted to the role of first-team coach at Charlton Athletic, until October 2021, when the club made him caretaker assistant manager, working with caretaker manager Johnnie Jackson following the departure of Nigel Adkins.
Towards the end of June 2022, Charlton confirmed that Euell would leave his position as first-team coach at the club, and days later, he linked up with Bristol City as first team coach working alongside manager Nigel Pearson, before leaving the club alongside Pearson in October 2023.
Welcome to the Club, Jason Euell! π€

CLUB STATEMENT:
Cambridge United are pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Euell as Assistant Head Coachβ¦
The 47-year-old former player has joined Garry Monkβs coaching staff as Assistant Head Coach, alongside Barry Corr, following the departure of Kevin Betsy earlier in the week.
After a distinguished playing career where he made his name as a forward at Wimbledon and Charlton, Euell transitioned to coaching in 2012 and spent eight-years with the Addicks as U16s Lead Coach at first, before being promoted to U23s Lead Coach, and then as First Team Coach.
During his time with Charlton, he helped with the development of a number of players, including the likes of Ezri Konsa, Ademola Lookman and Joe Aribo, among others.
Euell has also coached with England U18s and U20s, whilst his most recent role was at Bristol City, working alongside Nigel Pearson.
βI am very pleased and looking forward to the challenge,” Euell said. “Knowing that I am coming to a Club that is ambitious and doing things the right way, it’s a fantastic opportunity for myself.
“It’s a good time of year to be joining, as we progress through pre-season. I can’t wait to get to work and to get to know all of the players and staff.”
βGarry Monk added, “I am delighted Jason has joined our staff. He has vast experience within football, both as a player and a coach, allowing him to bring great qualities and energy, which will no doubt benefit the players, and the culture we are trying to build within the Club.β
The Club can also confirm the appointments of Jack Manuel as Head of Performance, Callum Martin as Individual Coach & Pathways Manager and Jamie Cozens as Kit Manager.
Everyone at Cambridge United warmly welcomes all new members of staff to the Club.
