Burnley post another viral transfer announcement tweet for what is their first January signing of the window with half of the month to go.

A big change in most areas on and off pitch for the Clarets in recent times has also proven to be a great source of entertainment for football fans in general with Burnley flying high at the top of the Championship.

Not only that but the club’s social media have provided creative videos along to announce the arrival of their new signings, boosting their following.

Following the transfer of Belgian international Samuel Bastien from Standard Liege in July, the club’s social media team took to a WWE-inspired announcement clip using classic footage involving Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson.

A separate video of Bastien was edited into this to appear as if the player is making a grand WWE-style entrance that has shaken even the Rock.

They’ve done so much since, of which you can see by clicking HERE, and no doubt there will be many more to come for however long they stay a hit online. It’s a bit of fun after all.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Belgian defender becomes first signing of January transfer window

Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Ameen Al-Dakhil from Sint-Truidense V.V on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old, who will wear the number 28 shirt at Turf Moor, began his playing career in Belgium, rising through the academy ranks at Tienen and Anderlecht, before joining Standard Liege in 2017.

Al-Dakhil then made the switch to Sint-Truiden in January 2022 and after 12 months with De Kanaries, the youngster becomes Vincent Kompany’s first signing of the winter transfer window.

The Iraq-born centre-back moved to Belgium aged 5 and has represented the ‘Red Devils’ from U17-U21 level.

After joining the Clarets, Al-Dakhil said: “I’m really excited to be here, it’s a really nice club, everyone I have met so far have been great with me.

“It’s a great club to be at and to make the next steps in my career and improve and learn as a player here.

“It’s been a really busy week for me, I haven’t slept much at all, but it’s all worth it now I’m finally here and a Burnley player.”
