Burnley keeper James Trafford picks up a coin which had been thrown at him by a Leeds fan following a goalless draw on Monday night.
None of the top-four picked up a victory, Leeds remain at the top, while Burnley’s fantastic defensive record goes on.
James Trafford denied Dan James late on in the only real chance at Turf Moor, as Burnley close to within a point of second-placed Sheffield United, Leeds move two points clear at the top of the Championship.
Scott Parker’s Clarets extend their unbeaten run to 16 games with a seventh successive clean sheet, Daniel Farke’s Leeds are now unbeaten in 11 matches.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke said when speaking to Sky Sports post-match: “It’s a good result. We’ve here a difficult away game against one of the best sides in this league. They are unbeaten since ages and then to come away with a point on the road is always a good result in this league.
“It’s another clean sheet which is pretty good. Yes, it’s difficult to score goals against them. I think we could have been a bit committed and convincing in some situations.
“Our decision making in their box – when you face an opponent who play that well in defending – you have to anticipate a little bit more.
“Our commitment in defence could have been better and then we could have won the game but overall it’s a good result and a good point for us.”
Burnley boss Scott Parker told Sky Sports: “I think the way the game panned out we’re happy with a point. We nudged away, There’s elements of the game we needed to be better in. We played against a very good team. To come out with a clean sheet, it’s a good point for us.
“It was a little bit cagey. Both teams were protecting their goal. It’s fair to say, first half I thought we were good, second half we lost our way a little bit. We didn’t have a real impact on the game in an attacking phase.
“We are playing against a very good side who on their day can open you up. We protected out goal like our life depended on it and it gave us a platform to walk out with a point.
“(Scoring goals) is an element of our game we need to improve. At this point of the season is it absolutely crucial, I don’t think it is, but moving forward it will be later in the season.”
Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley told Sky Sports: “We’re working hard every day on the defensive stuff and at the moment it’s working for us.
“For me it’s the full team, the full XI – it’s not just the back four, it starts at the top of the pitch with the strikers and the pressing. The important thing If we keep this going we should be ok.
“We know how the table looks, there are a few teams up there on similar points, we’re going to back ourselves. this game has gone, we will look back on it, reflect, we didn’t lose, we’ll go again next week.”
Player of the match Burnley’s Maxime Esteve speaking to Sky Sports: “I prefer the three points but that was a good performance defensively.
“We know that Leeds are a strong team so that’s a good point. We’ll take it.
“It was crucial not to lose but if you honestly look at the game – we didn’t have any shots on target. So honestly we’ll take this.”
This is what Twitter users said after Burnley keeper James Trafford picks up coin thrown at him by Leeds fan following the goalless draw…
@Prokyp: I don’t agree with coin-throwing. We are lucky Trafford made light of it. Please stop before the FA/EFL shut the Kop or worse for several games as punishment. It could happen.
@Jim_Howson: That’s dreadful throwing coins at him, big praise for the leeds fans that called them out for it
@El_Loco_Whites: All for the banter, but coining players is a dick move #lufc
@_lukewh: stuff like this makes me embarrassed to be a leeds/football fan
@chrisjohnson3590: Nothing wrong with banter but plain stupid throwing stuff. Good save and good banter from him too, not many keepers have the balls to do that to Leeds fans lol
@foreverayellow: ffs what is wrong with people, fair play to trafford for taking it well, but had he been struck could be very different, yet another punishment. hope the culprit was shamed by leeds fans around them, can’t be doing that?!
@allyaddersley: Can we please stop with this, totally letting the club down for doesn’t such so pathetic. learn to control your anger you stupid fuck. Well done to James Trafford for how he handled that, even then, still must have been shitty to deal with having to deal with that
