Burnley have been hailed for having the “greatest new signing announcement video ever” and nothing can top it fans say on social media.
On Thursday, the Clarets confirm the loan capture of Nathan Tella, but to reveal it, they featured Bruce Forsyth’s iconic Generation Game television programme to announce the deal on their Twitter account.
Now for those who are not familiar with The Generation Game, is a long-running BBC game show most notably hosted by the late Bruce Forsyth, who went on to be a much loved presenter of Strictly Come Dancing.
Part of the game involved contestants having to remember items that passed them on a conveyor belt, which they then won if they could name them.
In a superbly done video, Burnley made a mock up of the show using Forsyth and two contestants, with items like Fruitella, Nutella, an umbrella and paella all rolling past.
Then last of all it showed Tella himself lying on a sofa as he cruised past the contestants.
The video has gone viral online, getting over a million views in a few hours, with all fans saying the same thing after the innovative work from Burnley’s social media team.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Southampton winger Nathan Tella.
The 23-year-old joins the Clarets on a season-long loan from the Premier League side and is eligible to play at Vicarage Road on Friday evening against Watford.
Tella began his youth career at Arsenal, before moving to Southampton in 2017, where the forward progressed through the academy ranks, going on to make his first team debut in ‘Project Restart’ in June 2020.
The Lambeth-born youngster, who will wear the number 23 shirt at Turf Moor, now has 40 senior appearances for the Saints in all competitions, with 33 Premier League outings.
After joining the Clarets, Tella said: “Once the opportunity arose for me to come here, this is where my head has been at since.
“I’ve been wanting to play football consistently for a while now and now the opportunity has come up here, it’s one I’m just happy to have.”
Manager Vincent Kompany said: “We’re pleased to add Nathan to our team. He’s a hard-working player, who carries a great threat going forward with his attacking pace.
“I have no doubt that Nathan will fit in fine here and help improve our squad. We would like to thank Southampton Football Club for making this possible and we look forward to working with him.”
Tella on the move from the South Coast: “Once the opportunity arose for me to come here, this is where my head has been at [since]. I’ve been wanting to play football consistently for a while now, and now the opportunity has come up here, it’s one I’m just happy to have.
“[Playing football regularly] is something I wanted to do over the last year, but didn’t play as much as I’d have liked. Now, going into this season, I didn’t want a season similar to the last one, and the opportunity was there for me to go on loan.
“I want to play consistently and show people what I can do. I spoke to my family and friends about it, and they all assured me that it’s the right decision.”
Tella on the attraction of Burnley and working under Vincent Kompany:
“I see this as a Premier League Club. Getting relegated last season, I know the ambition will be to go straight back up and I want to play part in a team that gets back to the Premier League.
“Speaking to the manager, he’s told me the game plan and what he thinks about the season as well as how he thinks I’ll fit into the team. It’s been nothing but positivity.
“The phone call I had with him really sold the Club to me. He really told me how he rates me as a player and as a person, speaking about how he thinks I’ll get plenty of opportunities here as well as working one-to-one being tough and critical with me.
“That’s something I felt like I needed so it’s a very big factor in the move and a reason as to why I came here.”
Tella on already having experience at a young age:
“I feel like I’ve experienced and learned a lot from the boys [at Southampton]. I think coming here now, I can hopefully use some of that experience to play in the team and take what I learn from here back to Southampton.
“Right now though, my head’s only focused on here and being here. It’s day one and I can’t wait to get started.”
Tella on a good blend of youth and experience:
“Young players always have the enthusiasm and energy to perform as well as they possibly can.
“The fact that there’s still some senior players in the team, I’m looking forward to meeting them but also looking to hear what I can learn from them from what they’ve experienced.
“It’s nice to have experienced lads, and also nice to have younger players around me who probably have more in common to talk about.”
Tella on Burnley’s start to the campaign:
“I watched the Huddersfield game on the Friday night and in the first 45 minutes, my thoughts were just ‘wow, this isn’t the Burnley I’ve played against in the past!’.
“It looks like it’s an exciting team full of young players, and I’m happy to be a part of them.
“Our first thoughts will be to win games no matter how we do it, we know we’ve just got to win. I’m looking forward to hopefully being involved tomorrow [at Watford] and then at Turf Moor this season.”
Tella on his past visits to Turf Moor:
“My last one wasn’t good because they [Southampton] lost 2-0! I can see that the fans get behind the team here, especially when you’re doing well, and that’s something which I can tell the boys will pull towards here.
“It will give them more motivation to keep going, keep performing and keep doing well. I definitely can’t wait to get going and play at Turf Moor.”
Tella on what Clarets fans can expect from him:
“A lot of pace, lots of dribbling and also getting involved in 1v1s. Taking players on and running at them is something I like to do with my game. Hopefully there’s an end product with goals and assists to help us win games”
