Bradford fans cheekily taunt Stoke and Leeds with chants during Carabao Cup upset

Bradford City fans took to cheekily taunt Stoke and Leeds with a number of chants during the Carabao Cup upset on Tuesday night.

The League One outfit stunned the Championship leaders with a convincing 3-0 victory in the Carabao Cup second round, with goals from Will Swan (header), Brad Halliday (firm strike), and George Lapslie (rebound tap-in).

Stoke made 10 changes to their side from their win against Southampton at the weekend, but failed to create chances, while Bradford made five alterations to the side which started the 1-1 draw at Peterborough, and put in a comfortable performance.

Fair to say there were plenty of choice chants being sung, mainly about Stoke, from 3 minutes onward in the vlog (second video):

Stoke boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke: “It opens our eyes about where we are at. We’ve done some great business but we know where we are at.

“We’re desperately light in certain positions.

“That’s not off the back of one result, that result is one we have to park, but we know we are desperately short of bodies in certain areas.

“There were very few performances that warrant any sort of consideration.

“You move past it as quickly as possible. I want to see a reaction as quickly as possible in training.”

Bradford boss Graham Alexander said, per the club website: “It was a brilliant evening for all of us. I thought it was an unbelievable performance from the team.

“We looked good in and out of possession, the discipline and the structure, the composure and the clinical edge to score, we were unbelievable tonight.

“I am extremely pleased with everyone, and then to see the reaction from the crowd at the end, the fans are in dreamland. It was a really good night for us.”

Alexander added: “All the credit goes to the players, right from the start when we first came in, they all contributed to this.

“Getting us out of League Two, continuing the momentum into League One and in the cups, I am extremely proud.

“I am honoured to lead this group of players, both this year and last, they are all a joy to work with.”

Alexander told BBC Radio Leeds: “I just thought as a performance that was our number one performance this season, as an all-round performance,” Alexander told BBC Radio Leeds.

“We are just learning each game, every time we have a little knock-back like Saturday, we just improve again and we learn from that experience and try and improve on it.

“The players are showing that they are brilliant professionals, they trust each other and they are committed to their jobs, and you get performances like that if you have those three things.

“I want to reward all the players with games and I wish I could pick all 20 every game, I really do. I want them to know that I value them and it’s not through words but actions.

“You get performances like that when you have made changes, and I know Stoke had made changes too but they are still a top Championship squad.

“We were the better team and we deserved to win that game – it was a really tough challenge, but the players look forward to it.”
