Bolton give it large to Wigan fans and amuse with a TikTok video which has since gone viral after their derby day win on Saturday.
Bolton put in a hard-fought performance to earn a 1-0 victory thanks to Josh Sheehan with a stunning strike on the 82nd minute. Bragging rights claimed.
There were ecstatic scenes on the pitch and in the away end, Bolton defender George Johnston was seen winding up the Wigan fans after the final whistle.
Then Bolton’s official TikTok had a laugh at their rivals, poking fun at their mascot falling over, then preceded to show the goals and celebrations.

Bolton’s Steven Schumacher told Wanderers TV: âItâs a big win, itâs an important game for us and itâs probably in some instances a perfect derby performance. We spoke yesterday about making sure that we match Wiganâs physicality, deal with their direct play, stop crosses coming into the box because they are really dangerous from them.
âEvery single one of the players to a man carried out that information and the second thing which was so important was we needed to play our football, we couldnât make it become a scrap for the full game because that wouldnât suit us. We tried to play good football on a difficult pitch and looked really dangerous at times and in the end, I think we deserved that win.
âItâs got to be a fast start in a derby game, we had four-and-a-half thousand fans behind the goal, youâve got to start quick and we did right from the kick-off, Jack put the ball right in a good area that we needed to, Sam Dalby, who was excellent all day, wins a flick on we end up getting a half chance and a get a corner in two minutes and set the tone. I felt that the players after five or 10 minutes started to settle down and pass the ball, started to get the little movement patterns that weâd worked on during the week in the shape and caused Wigan some problems.
From the other side đ
So, the rumours are true..
Georgie Johnston is a white and *checks notes* he hates Wigan.

âI thought that we started the second-half quite well, we looked dangerous and got in some really good areas, Sam Dalby had a real good chance when it went just over the bar, and a couple of good moments around the penalty box, and I just thought there was a spell in the game before we made the subs where it became a bit scrappy and Wigan were just getting into it, so making the subs helped and to get some messages onto the players to just relax and start passing the ball again.
âThey showed some good game management because in a game like this where itâs intense and a local derby, sometimes you can make rash decisions, we didnât make too many today so credit to the players.
âDemps and Macca were excellent when they came off the bench to give us energy and showed quality for the goal, and Sheehan scores it from the edge of the box which was brilliant.
âWe kept going, kept our belief and in the end got the winner when it was needed.â
4,600 going nuts away at Wigan. Again. đ€#bwfc pic.twitter.com/72aHkJnCXs

On Jack Bonham: âHe was calm in all of his decision making, his kicking was excellent, he picked the right times of when to pass and when to go long, he dealt with all the balls that went over the top of him expertly well, and he showed what he was about today.
“He was calm, he didnât have a shot to save and thatâs credit to the 10 lads that are in front of him, they kept Wigan at bay and kept them away from our goal, which was so important so Iâm delighted, itâs a really good debut for him, to get a clean sheet and a win in front of them fans, Iâm sure he would have enjoyed it.
âToday is for the fans, theyâve travelled up and down the country all season coming to watch us, sometimes we havenât been good enough, today we were, and they go home happy with a good win here.â
Ryan Lowe said, per Latics TV: âBitterly disappointed. We had a few moments and spells in the game.
âWe knew theyâd try and play a lot. We didnât get out to the ball as quick as weâd like, and we didnât get after them as much as we wanted to.
âWe didnât land on second balls, so we changed a little bit second half, just drop to see who was dictating the game.
âIâm just disappointed with the goal. We limited them; they never had many big chances, we never had many big chances at all, (apart from) Harrisonâs (Bettoni) one towards the end.
âThe cross and the header, heading down the middle of the goal, then to turn your back when the ballâs gone right down the middle of the goal is disappointing.
âIf itâs top bins, 30 yards out, as we have done before, itâs a little bit different.
âThere are a few individual errors that have led up to that goal that have cost us.
âWe definitely could have settled. We wanted our midfielders to get on the ball more and take more risks, take more touches, and move the ball side-to-side which weâve done.
âWeâve done that against a good Championship team last week, weâve done that in games this season.
âWhether the emotion of the derby got to them a little bit, I donât know. We need to be braver on the ball. We didnât settle.
âI want us to win every game of course, especially derbies. We wanted to get right on the front foot.
âWeâve got to believe a little bit more, because we did it last week.
âI know itâs disappointing for our fans, weâve got to use it as motivation and try to be better in the next game.â

Here’s how social media users reacted after Bolton give it large to Wigan fans and amuse with a TikTok video after their derby day win…
@Sam_f_Heaton: Yep, fair play – can’t knock that. We’ll get them back at some point while I’m alive. I hope.
@OldManWinter999: That better not be a false dawn. Really shouldâve won by more, theyâre absolutely dreadful.
@WanderasLuke: Well done, boys. A much needed win away from home. I love you all again. Also, thanks for the 6 points Wigan đ
@AlexWithTheGC: Schumacher set up the team perfectly for success today. Effort was on point from every player on the pitch. Conway, Sheehan and Macca were class đđŒ.
@Finley_bwfc: Great win. We looked much better with 3 at the back. BUT We need better attackers. We donât create enough, and those chance we do we donât finish. It puts so much pressure on the defence. So get a striker and some more attacking players in ASAP. COYWM!!! #bwfc
@CiaranBWFC2002: Hang it in the louvre
@TXG1814: We DOMINATED them ALL match. This is exactly what happens when we stop trying to walk the ball in and score from 2 yards out. Fantastic effort today, especially Dalby #BWFC
@sykesjeff: Bolton deserved the win they won everything, every battle from start to finish wanted it more end of
@wafc2023: Lowe out. Sets us up for a draw at best every fucking league game
