Blackpool issue statement on ‘false’ exchange between supporter and club staff member

Blackpool issue a statement on a ‘false’ exchange between a supporter and club staff member, the rumour posted on social media.

Glen D Ball posted on the Blackpool FC Fans Group on Facebook: “Here is a serious question to each and every one of you, Do you think that young man Kyle is doing anything wrong turning up at the ground early and asking players for autographs and selfie pics like lots of loyal supporters up and down the country do.

“Reason I ask is a certain official BFC member of staff has called his house 3 times 8 am on Mon morn.

“Reason for call asking his nan to stop him turning up annoying players as it is affecting there mindset and performances on the pitch, to the member of staff and you know who you are should be ashamed harassing autistic lad and his family. I personally think you need a much better excuse than that for you recent displays”

The League One club stated that they were aware of rumours circulating online concerning an alleged exchange between a supporter and a member of Club staff which, after speaking at length to all of those concerned, are untrue. A statement in full can be read below…

The Club is aware of rumours circulating online concerning an alleged exchange between a supporter and a member of Club staff.

This issue has been taken seriously, and the Club has this morning reached out to the family to check in on their welfare and gather the facts. The family have confirmed that the rumours are false, with no contact made at all between the supporter, their family or any member of staff.

The Club is disappointed to see the unsubstantiated claims that have been posted online over the past 24 hours, causing distress to those concerned, particularly the supporter, member of staff and both of their families. This incident is, unfortunately, one of a number in recent months where a member of Club staff has been targeted online by a minority of supporters with false claims, abuse or threatening behaviour. The welfare of staff is of paramount importance to the football club, and this behaviour is not acceptable.

Football is a passionate game, and the Club fully embraces the loyal support shown by countless fans, week-in week-out. It’s imperative that supporters and staff work together as we strive for collective success, both on and off the pitch.

Fans gave their reaction as Blackpool issue a statement on a ‘false’ exchange between a supporter and club staff member…

@dan_masonn01: Embarrassing if someone’s genuinely gone out there way to make that up then…

@bfc7280: Doesn’t surprise me with some of the bellends that follow this club

@chris_lomas14: Weird that someone went out their way to make it up. Still think it’s weird people believed it too. Strange people about to make that up

@HereLiesJeff: Almost like people talk bollocks about the club to fuel their own agenda… 👀

@HughJanus_80085: It’s starting to make sense why the club have blocked certain individuals on here. Time to start banning them from the club as a whole as well. Absolute pond scum the ones who push these weird rumours.

@DarrenHumphri12: Social media. At its cess pit worsed.

@olliecmusic: Watching us is that boring people are having to make up rumours for entertainment. Embarrassing.

@nt1212__: It’s good that this is cleared up, however it must be kept in mind that the ownership of the club are still so out of touch with fans and deserve every bit of criticism for that. The club is slipping down the pyramid and this must be stopped ASAP. Hopefully news of a sale soon

@cspvisualz: Blackpool FC facebook summed up for you

@TrueTangerine1: Who’s the weapon making this up then. Bizzare behaviour.

Neil Brown: Fair play to the club for making this statement. Fans need to come together at this time to support the club. To the lad who these comments are about, you are a true supporter who every club would be proud off 👏🙂

Alex Woodward: Sad fact of life in the 21st century ya always going to get a keyboard worrier or drunk or smack head Karen looking to cause trouble. The truth is the clubs in a low place with all the injuries and behind the scenes matters etc and the moral needs a booster soo all the true fans need to get behind the team and become the 12 player to boost them all and create a better atmosphere. All clubs go through ups and downs its football it’s just a game we all enjoy. The club is stable, yes the performance is on a downer at the mo but it will pick up. But just remember it could always be worse.

Jamal Kulkhan: Embarrassing that one post without proof can have that much negativity thrown at the club – it was always going to be either false or a heavily biased one sided perspective of the incident.

Ross Henderson: Football social media is an absolute cess pit these days of personal abuse and lies from faceless profiles. Really sad state of affairs

Peter Ian Mowbray: I actually said on Social Media that this was untrue. Some people should not be allowed on Social Media as they could cause harm and damage to the community

Tangerine Knights Support Page: Not everything you read on the Internet is true, keep doing what you do Kyle
