Blackburn’s official Twitter admin tells Joey Barton to ‘leave our town’ out of his ‘meltdown’

Blackburn’s official Twitter admin tells Joey Barton to ‘leave our town’ out of his ‘meltdown’ in a bizarre out of nowhere tweet on Monday.

Peter Hitchens (@ClarkeMicah on Twitter) retweeted a video, showing Blackburn in 1905, captioning his post: “In films like these , colourisation is totally justified. We see how very like our ancestors we are, and also how very unlike.”

To which Joey Barton then says:
“120 years ago in Blackburn, England.
We talk about Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
We never talk about Equity.
Who has done the work.
Who has built the places.
Who fought in the wars.
Who paid the taxes.
Who built and maintained these communities.
We shouldn’t forgot our past.
As we look to improve our future.
👑”

This caught the attention of Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers, who then wrote: “Hi Joey, if you could have your public meltdown without bringing our town into it, that’d be great. Thanks.”

When one user asks ‘Run for parliament Joey you’ll get a lot of support from North, South, East and West’, Joey Barton replies: “I struggle to lie to people. So that’s not the profession for me. I don’t have the key skill required. 👍”

Barton posts a photo of him in his playing days for Burnley: “Can’t help but smile when I think of you all…#undefeated 👑”

He goes off again:
“1 win in 10 in the Championship.
17th position. @Rovers
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d keep your nut down if I was you pal.
Do your bosses know you’ve tweeted.
You’ll be plucking chickens next week. 🐓 🐓🐓”

Here’s how Twitter users are reacting as Blackburn’s official Twitter admin tells Joey Barton to ‘leave our town’ out of his ‘meltdown’…

@Gracie_M1984: But you don’t speak for the town. Whether people agree with him or not, you’re in no position to speak ‘on behalf of Blackburn’. Admins for football clubs online shouldn’t say things like this

@BRFC_1875: I think it would be wise to try and read the room with Rovers fans before commenting on such a post @Rovers. Further division between club and fans, although seemingly impossible is ill advised.

@JaxstoneArt: Hardly!! Pointing out mass immigration has destroyed once culturally English towns and cities, is far from a ‘Meltdown’. Whoever runs this X handle needs to hang their head in shame and resign.

@MKT1882: Now I’m not usually up for backing you lot Rovers but good on you for tweeting this. You’re a community club supporting your community and that should be commended. Fair play, from a Claret. 👏🙂

@10sam_hOrns: These admins need a raise 🤣🤣🤣

@Brian_ban: Fantastic stuff. Bravo The Rovers.

@CR017_: All the racists in the comments trying to give the admin grief 😂

@mrbishi1875: Proud of my club, stand up and be a role model to the community, the people that disagree, while entitled to an opinion, are probably the ones that need positive role models the most 🤍💙

@Willllllllll8: Football clubs leaving comments on social media must be one of the things I hate most about modern day football. And I hate a lot of things about it lol .

@AsYouWereTamP: Always liked Blackburn

@blademan1627044: Blackburn is a shithole. Don’t pretend otherwise. Thanks.

@Fraser1874: You just knew Blackburn responding would draw out a few wrong’uns.

@TeachesPrimary: Shots fired!

@P24576512: Your town? YOUR town? Really? This is a social media platform. If you get upset at this, why don’t you rant about your below average football teams form?

@midnightrun84: Well done admin, I don’t understand the logic of some replies here, you don’t ignore wrong uns like Barton, you call them out for being wrong uns

@Tommo_59: Shutting down debate because you don’t like what he says. The town was around long before your crappy football team and anyone can talk about it if they want.

@ria_747: Stick to spewing out the club propaganda as regards football and give politics a miss.

@ryandawson46: Blackburn Rovers FC – the democratically elected voice of Blackburn. Remember you’re a private business lads 🤝

@scottnixon001: Strange for a football club to get involved with this, especially when the original tweet is not from Barton and is specifically about the town of Blackburn.

@Andy13946802: Given the current state of the club on and off the pitch, it’s perhaps best if the Rovers account concentrates on football matters. 👍

@Sorare_Rover: We may not be playing our best at the moment but still can take pride in the Rovers #Rovers

@stregulus: It’s been tough following rovers for the last few weeks but this tweet has made it all better! Thank you admin!

@NickmarshNick: Rovers should sort themselves out before getting involved in matters that have absolutely nothing to do with them!

@Willh1985: Glad to see that Blackburn Rovers have the backbone to challenge him. Shame a vast amount of male pundits and others in the media have failed to.

@aapp952: Well said @Rovers now sort it out on the pitch (ideally by signing a competent goalkeeper) and let’s go from there

@lostlibertine: Joey Barton getting wrecked by Blackburn is perfect 😂

@kylerc88: Imagine getting done by Blackburn and thinking you’re undefeated…

@Ryan_Heys: 🤣🤣🤣 whoever runs rovers socials needs fucking off rapid
