Birmingham fans ‘outraged’ at ticket prices set for away fixture at Coventry

A group of Birmingham fans say they have been left ‘outraged’ at the expensive ticket prices set for away fixture at Coventry.

Birmingham City FC OSC issued a tweet earlier this weekend, as ticket details were announced, they said: “We are outraged by the ticket prices for the upcoming away fixture at Coventry City – £45 for adults and £35 for U18s is nothing short of daylight robbery.

“Football has to be affordable and accessible to all supporters — not priced to profit from fans, especially the younger fans and families.

“These prices are unacceptable and show a complete disregard for the match going fan.

“The EFL and the incoming independent football regulator must take action.

“Away ticket prices have to be capped at £30 to protect the game’s future and ensure fairness for travelling supporters across the country.

“Supporters are the lifeblood of football. Without us, there is no game. It’s time for action.”

Birmingham City said, via their website, regarding ticket details:

As mentioned, Birmingham fans are ‘outraged’ at the ticket prices set for their away fixture at Coventry…

@PanjabiBlues: Disgraceful pricing

@brumforward: This lot moved to Sixfields, St Andrews and now Wembley stadium. Tell them where to stick it Blues.

@BCFCKRO13: Deffo smash the gaff up again

@thejodiefry: As a Cov fan I think this is shameful pricing

@AlexRusseii: Saved their club and this is how they charge us. Rotten club

@DoubleH_72: As a Cov fan, the sooner the clubs/league introduce a more realistic price cap on away tickets the better. No one should be charging these prices at this level.

@Stoph76: FFS @Coventry_City way to repay the favour of us housing you when you needed it. Shocking prices again, especially for the kids tickets.

@maxx1875: Make a rule that whatever a club charges away fans, their fans get charged the same for the reverse fixture. Then see how many clubs want to charge 45 fucking quid for a half hour drive away. #BCFC

@DarbyshireKRO: Make sure you charge them the same at our place, ridiculous pricing that

@BcfcMichael: £45 😳 guess they have to find a way to fund the stadium purchase. Look forward to blues charging them £50 for the return fixture #bcfc

@camyehh: For a family of 5, 2 adults 1 young adult and 2 kids that’s equals TWO HUNDRED FUCKING POUND, joke of a club cov are

@PaulMoreton: As a lifetime CCFC fan this is bang out of order, there needs to be a £30 max no more on away tickets for all teams in my eyes. It shows owners getting greedy for no reason – football is nothing without fans #PUSB

@nickblues1875: Premier League away ticket price cap: £30. Championship: Non existent. Both the EFL and Cov are a disgrace.

@nickblues1875: By charging £45 instead of £30, Cov are roughly making an extra £41,160. Not a lot of money for a Championship football club, but it’s lot for fans to be forking out. EFL desperately need to enforce a price cap. #bcfc #ccfc

@Danny_Moore8: 45 pound for a championship fixture. The worlds gonna dullaley. Charge them 50 on the return and see if they turn up…. Disgusting pricing

@mHawkins99: There has to be a price cap on away tickets in the EFL like there is in the premier league. Biggest clubs in the country can only charge £30 max in the prem. We all put the graft in travelling to follow our clubs, why is this being tolerated? #bcfc #efl #eflchampionship @EFL
