BBC reveal which FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tie they will stream

The BBC will broadcast one game from every round of this season’s FA Cup qualifying, the latest to be selected is this the Third Qualifying match between Halesowen Town and Altrincham, days after the draw was made.

The match takes place on the 5th of October (12:30pm kick off) and will be streamed on the BBC Sport website, app and iPlayer.

It will be the fifth match from the tournament they will have shown this season after picking Punjab United vs Broadbridge Heath (0-1) and Heather St John’s vs Worcester City (1-0), Thatcham Town v Salisbury (2-3) and Irlam v York City (0-2).

As mentioned by the BBC, In 1985-86, non-league Altrincham reached the fourth round after knocking out top-flight Birmingham City.

They currently sit 16th in the National League North table and managed to beat Chester in the previous round, but it had to go to a replay to decide who went through.

Halesowen have reached the first round on nine previous occasions, the last time being in 2004-05.

They play their football in the Southern League Division One Central, where they sit 3rd. They have beaten Bedworth United, Lichfield City and Stratford Town to get to where they are in this season’s FA Cup.

Since the news of the selected FA Cup tie was made by the BBC, there was plenty reaction, some loving the choice of game, others were not so keen – take a look at those tweets on the next page.
