Basingstoke Town have chosen to release statement on ‘distasteful’ images of their players which was posted over the Christmas period.
The Southern League Division One South outfit posted a brief write up on what had happened, and it’s got plenty of people talking.
Their social media post has gone on to have over 1,000 likes, hundreds of comments and been widely retweeted. Take a look at what they had to say below…
BASINGSTOKE TOWN STATEMENT:
As a club we have been made aware of distasteful imagery released by a small number of players over the course of the festive period.
A full investigation is now underway of the circulation of images containing players and their partners in… matching pyjamas sets.
The club will not be making any further comment at this time.
– STATEMENT ENDS –
We do think it has a lot to do with this post…
it’s a real shame to see some genuinely good blokes being bullied into wearing matching pyjamas on Facebook . RIP lads

Many Twitter users have taken to praise the club for taking ‘action’ over the festive faux pas, something they never want to see on their feeds again.
Matching pyjamas is becoming a trend, and it’s certainly been up for debate online. A set can cost anywhere between £30 to £55 according to Basingstoke Gazette, with a number of high street and internet sites now offering a variety of options.
Good Housekeeping describes them as a “growing trend, with more and more adorable sets on sale than ever before”, writing that they are the “perfect option for a relaxed Christmas morning spent opening your presents by the tree”.
But we want to know what you think, would you wear the same pyjamas as your partner?
