It started at Bristol City before he left for Wigan, Sheffield United, Swansea City, Portsmouth, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City. Cotterill then finished his career with a short spell at Indian Super League side ATK in 2018.
Capped by Wales at Under-19 and Under-21 level, the winger made his senior debut in 2005 and played 24 games for the national side, scoring two goals. He was also part of the 23-man squad at the 2016 European Championships.
Having completed the signing, manager Gavin Chesterfield said: “I’m delighted to welcome David to the club. It’s a boost for all involved with our football club and supporters of Welsh football. This has been something we have talked about for a while but the timing now seems right.
“At only 32 years old, David has a lot to offer on the field and in the changing room. He has shown a desire to be a part of our club and play with Jordan. David started his football at Barry Bluebirds at the age of six and it is great to welcome him back to Barry at this stage of his career.”
