Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday confirm ticket sales for the 2023 League One playoff final, and a big attendance in expected at Wembley.
The two clubs face off in a match which will determine who will be promoted to the Championship for the 2023/24 season.
Michael Duff’s Barnsley defeated Bolton Wanderers to reach the final. The Tykes have the opportunity to return to English football’s second tier at first attempt after finishing bottom of the Championship last season.
Sheffield Wednesday achieved one of the most historic moments in English Football League’s history by becoming the first team to overcome a four-goal deficit following the first leg. Darren Moore’s team scored a goal in the 99th minute to force extra-time against Peterborough following a 4-0 loss in the first match. The Owls won 5-3 in penalties, and have now the opportunity to return to Championship after being relegated in 2021.
👏 Thank you for backing us, Reds.
🎟️ Let’s keep pushing… ⤵️

BARNSLEY STATEMENT:
Barnsley Football Club is disappointed to learn that the English Football League (EFL) has reallocated the total amount of tickets for the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.
The EFL requested 6,000 of Barnsley FC’s allocated tickets to be available to Sheffield Wednesday supporters in Tier 5 on Wednesday, which was opposed by the Club.
Whilst we acknowledge the reasons offered up in terms of the current sales totals of both clubs, the potential risk to our supporters was our main concern. However, the EFL are confident that the safety measures put in place are sufficient.
The Reds take on The Owls in a South Yorkshire derby at the home of football on Monday 29 May in a 3pm kick off, with a place in the second tier up for grabs.
